the hope that we have lost / puppy / blitz

It's been months ever since I made the mistake of my life. Months ever since I broke her innocense and months ever since I broke my promise to my sister. All of those years we spent protecting her have faded, growing darker and darker until the thought of her seeming innocent and hidden from the games was silly; all just because of me. Silly old me who thought that my younger sister was ready to see the horrific thing that was known as the games. I thought that she'd take it fine, I was sure of it; she was begging to watch for a while and obviously at some point she must have realised what she were to see was horrifying and could scare her for life.

But of course as always, I was wrong.

The games had just ended again and I don't really care, no real excitement for anyone in our district since we lost yet again. Though no surprise there, right? District Eight; one of three districts yet to have a victor in the past fifteen years.

I end up just sitting on my bed and looking at the wall as I stare off into space. I don't know what I'm looking for, maybe just to regain the hope that we have lost.
