That damn number tauntingly laughs at me in my face. Seven. After the performance I put on for the Game-makers, it’s a mockery that’s nagging about how I’ve overestimated myself. Can already assume that Father’s cursing at me from Home, displeased in the Career prodigy he spent so many wasted years creating. For once my attention is off of my siblings, and the horrors they might have to witness me endure. If I can’t be that ruthless fighter Father desires, complete the simplest task of receiving a high score, there’s not going to be much for them to watch in the first place.

I excuse myself from the lounge to pour myself a drink. Been trying my best to remain away from any alcoholic influences, but at this very moment I’m in desperate need for one. If my odds on getting out of Arena aren’t as solid as I believed, I deserve at least a single night of enjoyment. I rummage through the array of liquor choices, only to be disappointed with my options. Would of thought the they’d spoil us more, or apparently they just assume I don’t know my alcohol. Either way, they clearly forgot what district I’m from.

Anger already fuels me, and the lack of my favorite beverage doesn’t support my case. I gaze back over to my District Partner, our mentor, stylists, and escort, to see all of their eyes glued upon the television. There’s a good chance none would notice if I were to slip out in search of a stronger liquid, and sure enough I take my window of opportunity. I know exactly where they keep the good shit around here, which is right where I head.

For the first time since arriving to the Capitol, I observe a completely abandoned Training Center. Even at the crack of dawn this spacious room is consumed with the chaos of life. Though at this moment the lights are dim, and the air is still. Only the shadow of an Avox, cleaning the Game-makers viewing loft above, informs me that I’m not alone. Quite frankly, that makes my current plan even easier then I thought. With quick, graceful steps I hurry up the stairs before the janitor has a chance to lock up.

“Don’t mind me.” I grin at the startled Avox and help myself to the fully equipped bar. Remy Martin, just what I was looking for; Father’s special treat that he never even shared with Mother. I never minded the consequences that erupted from stealing a few shots behind his back. That shivering taste was always worth whatever punishment awaited ahead. Obviously this is just what I need when death might be approaching, and I don’t even bother with a glass to begin sipping this delicacy. The only thing I pause to do, is start up the high-tech jukebox located in here.
