"Why did you do that? Why do you think you can just ruin this?" Ilena squawked, staring at her brother in disbelief as he started to walk nonchalantly away from the training center, swinging his sword around like some sort of toy.

"Oh my God, Ilena! Just let it go; it's just a fucking dress!"

Fiery blue eyes glared harshly at the older boy as Ilena stomped her way up to him and raised her hand in attempt to warn him of a slap. "Just a dress?! Um, did you just—just a dress!? Fidelis, this is one of my most favorite dresses! You can't just slash your sword through the skirt! That's some inexplicable attitude you have there, Fidelis Trevor Whitney, and it's not up to you to just spread it around like wild fire!"

Why did Mom and Dad make him bring her along? Didn't they know how chaos seemed the follow the two everywhere?

"Yeah, it's just a dress! You have, like, a hundred more in your big-ass closet at home! Y-You know what? I'm done with your crap, Ilena, I'm so done with it!"

She watched venomously as her brother walked her off, secretly wishing she had slapped him when she had the chance. "Yeah, whatever, Fidelis!" she shouted back. "I don't care; it's not like I even wanted you here with me, alright!?"

Brothers were complete idiots, one of the most prominent ones in District One being Fidelis Whitney. She couldn't believe how he thought he could just walk around the streets acting all high and mighty; it was a stupid act that she never understood why would come with the package of an older sibling. How lucky were only children; they didn't need to witness incredible and immature tantrums like Fidelis'.

Ilena needed someone to complain to, stat. Especially when there were people already starting to whisper about the incident around her.

Turning her attention to the nearest person available, a girl who seemed to be older than herself, she started to rant off. "Did you see that? Did you see that? I can't believe how... how infantile he can be, you know?" She then pointed at the obvious rip near the bottom of her maxi dress. "See? Look at that! This is why I absolutely hate Careers like him. Sometimes they can act so, so, so shallow!"

Ilena was no Career. Too delicately built was her problem. If she were taller, stronger, and less prone to bruises and cuts, she would have had a higher opinion of people like her brother, but the body she had was the body she got. Capitolites would never understand what she was talking about; they had surgery and body implants there, and they could probably just change their bone structure to whatever they wanted.

"I bet you know what I'm talking about, hon. Nearly everyone has to have that one stupid sibling ruining everything."

Why was I, a girl of nineteen, in the career training center you ask? Well, let me tell you. Ever since I have been out of the reaping I wanted to continue being a careerr, and the way I could do that was be a career trainer. So I became one. Today was my first day on the job, and so one of my old career trainers Fidelius Georgini had been telling me the hardships of trying to teach the annoying brats these career kids can be. I had seen all the old stations I had been really good at as a career, and had to decide what I would teach. After a lot of consideration between swords and axes, I chose throwing knives. They were fun and my best thing to do.

And then I started training. Right away.

There was a little girl of twelve who was just starting who I drilled in her throwing form.

There was a teenage boy who didn't throw fast enough.

There was a teenage girl who had really bad aim.

Anyways, I helped them all. Aren't I an angel helping little kids like that? If they ever get reaped for the hunger games they better thank me for changing them from complete idiots to not so complete idiots. Then I heard a commotion coming from the swords area. I walk over slowly, to see what was going on between two careers. There was a girl screaming at a boy. Friend? Brother? Boy friend? The girl had a huge slash down her dress and I had a guess on what happened. The boy must have slashed it and gotten the girl who must not like being a career angry.

I think in my head to myself towards the girl: Yes. Fear getting your dress slashed again little girl. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. Suffering leads to being an epic career in the hunger games so get the fuck used to having your dress destroyed. I grin to myself.

The girl then storms over to me and starts shouting at me. I roll my eyes. "See? Look at that! This is why I absolutely hate Careers like him. Sometimes they can act so, so, so shallow!" She yells angrily at me, and I grin because I don't think she realized yet that I am a career trainer and that this is really amusing me, "I bet you know what I'm talking about, hon. Nearly everyone has to have that one stupid sibling ruining everything." I roll my eyes and say in an annoyed tone and obviously fake sad eyes. "One. That was really hurtful considering I'm a career trainer." then I grin, "Two. I have a little sister and she is an angel most of the time." I grin again, "And three. Honestly, it's just a dress. Nothing to get so overly excited about.

ilena whitney of district one

The girl she stood before appeared extremely familiar. Like every District One child, Ilena had to train at one point in time, and that was the most possible way that she could've seen her.

"One. That was really hurtful considering I'm a career trainer."

"I—what?" she stuttered, eyes owl-wide in fear. Fear in this case meant utter embarrassment, and Fake Ilena most obviously cared about it. Real Ilena? Not so much. "Oh, I'm so sorry! It's just that Fidelis can be a total jerk sometimes," most of the time, really, "and I just felt really mad at him, and..."

(The eyes the girl made annoyed her—if she wanted to look hurt, then she had to actually try. Ilena did better. Much, much better.)

"Two. I have a little sister and she is an angel most of the time."

"Most of the time" was the key phrase there, but Ilena found it to be irrelevant to mention. She apologized already; there was no need to push the bar. "Oh, you're so lucky!" she found herself complaining. "Fidelis used to be like that to me until training took over his head." The truth was that Fidelis was never like that. He was born an ass, and it wasn't like he would change his ways and escape being one.

The probability of that was less than ten percent.

"And three. Honestly, it's just a dress. Nothing to get so overly excited about."

I know that, sweetie, but the part I've been playing for the past seventeen years is a shallow bitch. I can't forget that. She scrutinized the other, appearing as if she was really offended by her words. And this shallow bitch is not going to take that kind of crap, dear.

"Yeah, but this is a really special dress! I got it from my dead cousin..." Whenever Ilena "shouted", it was airy and soft, and yet people were still staring at her. Shooting them a sad look like a dart, they turned away and went back to whatever they were doing.

And then she remembered something. Her purpose there was to train for at least thirty minutes, as Dad forced onto her. Others were there for hours and hours; Ilena was lucky to only be there for the bare minimum.

"Anyway..." she trailed off, calming down and pretending to forget that she had something else to talk about. "...You're a trainer. Could you help me?" Giving the older girl a sheepish grin, Ilena started to wonder if she appeared... bipolar or something.

"I'm good at knives."

Barely, you little liar.

"I think I have good aim."

True, but that was only because of that good week you had last month. Last month, Ilena.

Sometimes voices could be such nuisances, like flies buzzing around your head constantly without any intention of stopping. "I—sorry, neither of those things were true... I don't really bother to go here that much."

"Thus, you have to help me. I'm a lost cause in all honesty."
