Thurstan Rutter

My fist on his flesh felt so soothing; I could carry on hitting his face, again and again and again. The blood spraying my face and his, I couldn’t stop my body didn’t want me to stop. ”Thurstan please!” She begged but I felt too powerful to stop. His body fell to the ground, his face all bloody, standing over him I was on top. I hadn’t achieved what I wanted. His lunges still rose, so he was still alive but he was knocked down. That very moment, I decided I could not live the life I was going through now, I needed a change. For my heart was broken…

Fortunately, I grew up in the Capitol, the best place to be in Panem. A son to two capitolites, who lived off the money inherited by their parents, I had it all. Everything I wanted; they gave me, toys, sweets, new clothes it all came sailing my way. I was an only child, so was spoilt rotten, I loved life as a kid. My parents were my slaves, they cared for me, did everything for me. I took it all for granted; I never had to do anything for myself.

Inheriting my appearance from my father, his dark hair and grey eyes, I am a mirror image of him. Growing to a height of six feet tall, I stopped my growth spurt at eighteen. My hair, probably my most prized possession, is always combed in the morning. For how else am I meant to keep the ladies interested? Moles have taken residence on my face, I hated them as a child, I wanted them removed. Slowly as I matured, I wasn’t that fussed, most of the ladies found them cute anyway. So why eradicate the lady magnet?

Residing in the Capitol helps a lot with my appearance, although I am not too bright and vibrant with colours like everyone else. I like blues, steel blues; I tend to mostly wear formal clothing. I have a great selection of tuxedos and dining jackets, it helps when you get invited to a party every other week; I can’t be seen wearing the same suite. It is really against the rules in the Capitol. Although I personally enjoy the parties during the games and the victory tours, that is where all the best ladies are.

As a child I was always playing with the kids, I liked to tell them all what to do, I was the leader of our little gang. Practicing with our toy swords, we used to re-enact events from past games, I was obviously always the victor. My toy sword was my main weapon, until one of the kids brought a gun along one day; he obviously gained all the kills. I begged my father for a toy gun, he refused and even my tantrums wouldn’t get me anyway. I needed to be on top again, so the next day, I knocked the toy gun out of the boys hand and it was mine.

Schooling was a breeze for me; unexpectedly I was quite intelligent, despite my lack of concentration. During my school period, I met a girl, Celine. She was my little close friend, always in my alliance when we played the hunger games; she was my damsel in distress. Sometimes, whenever I felt like it, I would kill myself to protect her. Labelled a hero in my little group of friends. Graduating school, I continued my friendship with Celine, it soon grew into a relationship.

For five years, from when I was eighteen , I never left Celine’s side. My red-headed beauty, with eyes like diamonds. When she entered my world, my life became wonderful. We were the real lovebirds, getting up to shenanigans around the Capitol. We never worked, were just with each other. I couldn’t bear ever leaving her, she molded my life.

Living in the Capitol as a young adult gave me a great social life, I was always at the parties. I grew a great taste for liquor,I wasn't addicted to it but I enjoyed the buzz. Dancing, having fun, was one of my favourite pass-times. I spent most of my time dancing with Celine. We enjoyed eating chocolate together and having a sip of the finest wine, we really lived the high live.

His eyes upon your face

Until one day an old friend of mine, Kristian told me he had seen her, with another man. I had let her go for one day, she said she had to be with her family but she lied. She lied to me; she tore my heart out and spat it into my face.

His hand upon your hand

Rage filled my mind, I couldn’t cope, another man with her. I went out looking for her and this degenerate man, with only one thing on my mind.

His lips caress your skin

I found them together in her house, I dragged the man from the bed and gave him the greatest pounding I have ever given, I nearly killed him. Celine just begged me to stop, she never apologised for ruining me. She made my heart cry, I had all these feelings I couldn’t fight. I left the man with a broken nose, I needed to get away.

It's more than I can stand…

Thankfully, the man who was with her didn’t send the peacekeepers to me for attacking him. Instead I joined the peacekeepers. Shipping myself off to the academy, I needed a new way of life; I needed to control this anger inside of me. I thought tracking down rebels and executing them would give me what I needed.

Graduating the academy, I was sent on various missions around Panem. Visiting most of the districts, to hunt down these criminals and keep order in them, I felt so powerful. I was on top of the world again, this time I had a real gun to play with, I was always the victor in the attacks.
Becoming a peacekeeper moulded me, my body became more toned and I was no longer the heart broken man. I became more athletic, I felt as healthy as ever.

But I would never love again, I trusted no woman, you can’t have love with no trust. However it didn’t stop me from inviting them to my bed, every so often. For a man is not a man without romance but romance doesn’t always have to involve love. I didn’t want to ever be betrayed or angered again, otherwise it would drive me mad…
