I am probably the biggest disappointment in the family but I don’t want it to be that way. I don't understand. I've had seventeen years of trying and I've never been in the spotlight. I've always had it in my grasp but always lose it. Nothing will stop me from getting it, I don't care if it takes me years, I don't care what I have to do. If my siblings get in my way, I will eradicate them, nobody is stopping me. My life is that spotlight, I am determined to stay under it forever, even if it is worth killing for.

I am basically a part of a match set, I look like every other family member and every other citizen in the district. Dark hair and dark eyes, nothing that helps you stand out from anyone. I have brown hair, it is short and I occasionally spike it up with gel. I thought it would make me look different but the gelled up hair trend became a thing. I am probably one of the most lankiest of my family, long spindly arms and legs. There is hardly any muscle to me, no matter how hard I try to get the meat onto my body, it just never happens.

I tower the family, being a staggering height of 6ft 7inches tall and I only weigh in at 9 stone 11 pounds. I am basically a skeleton with skin. With all the food on my plate, nothing is helping me gain the weight. My fitness levels are great but they don’t help me with the challenges the family sets.   Despite my long legs, I am not even fast, the other siblings always outrun me.My clothes are also dull, just like my life. Dark shirts, dark leather jackets, dark trousers everything is just plain and boring.

I crave for this spotlight that my family possesses, even though I’ve never been under it, I will stop at nothing to get it. Determination is my greatest trait, even if I’ve never gotten the prize, I always try again. Although they call me too harsh, too relentless, on occasion I have nearly purposely hurt my siblings to get to the goal. That is why they hate me; they call me too power hungry, they say my mind is too twisted. I am not power hungry, I am power starved.

Basically my parents just spit on me, I am ignored, they’ve tried to fix me for so many years but I have just failed them. I try to get their attention but they just look the other way. I have ran out of plans, well the less harsher plans. If I ever want to step up my game, I need to do something big, something huge. Maybe even volunteer for the games? I’d likely die though and I’d be their greatest disappointment, they wouldn’t cry out for me if my name was reaped, they’d likely be happy to get rid of me. For I am the greatest Dwarryhouse disappointment.

They call me a rude friendless hermit; I have other things to worry about than gaining friends. I’d rather stay at home and scheme, then ‘chill out'.There is nothing productive about that, most of the friends my family make are brainless anyway. I’d like to think myself as the secretly intelligent one, yes they all have their great traits that let them win the spotlight but I’ve something. It is not managed yet, otherwise I would’ve got this spotlight. I just need time, I know I’ve had a lot of time but I am nearly there. Soon I won’t be the greatest disappointment but the hero of the family.

I am the second eldest of the generation of Dwarryhouse’s, with Dick before me and a bunch of others afterwards. The thing about my family is, they let to set us challenges. Seven of us, alongside the estranged cousins of the family, battling it out to get underneath this spotlight. The challenges can be anything, from jumping of a high-raised building to killing someone. Of course if we wanted to be under the spotlight forever, we’d have to win the games. Well, none of us have actually been reaped…yet.

When I was a child, I was a confused little lanky brat. My mother said I would scream and throw tantrums; I was literally their nightmare, which I still am. I would cause terror in the house, picking on the younger children, they were easy bait. Destroying their useless toys, making them cry; it made me feel so powerful. Of course once the challenges began, my tantrums had no help for me at all and I lost all that power. I was pushed into the corner, a shadow, Darak the douchebag as I was nicknamed.

With all my failure I have decided to train, every single day, I train everything. My mind, my body, whatever is likely to come up on these challenges. District 9 isn’t equipped with any career centres like the other districts but I use whatever I can. A quick run through the district, a few punches to a bag and a quick brain teaser before bed. I love to keep myself busy and I’d rather not be the hermit which they all tag me as.

One day I will get the pride that I deserve, I will no longer be Darak the idiot, Darak the lame. I will be the greatest Dwarryhouse from any generation.
