She stumbles away from the desecration, soaked in the blood of her lover. It runs in rivulets from the crown of her head, the streams joining and dividing as it waterfalls down her body. "Circe Ly-" she chokes on her own name.
She comes to rest on the side of the metallic mountain, pressing a red shadow into gears and twisted iron bars. A fork of lightning crawls across the domed sky. It seems to yearn for the antenna of the scrap heap. She knows better than to linger but she cannot remember how to move her leaden legs. The adrenaline has ebbed as the blood river dries. Circe raises her hands in front of her face, blocking out everything but the last of Gunner La Torre.
She times her scream to the next bolt of lightning. Her pain is the roaring thunder rolling across the arena.
