Memories flashed through Kirito's mind as he watched Harbinger and Annora vanish into their rooms with family closely following. Kirito could even feel his lips still tingling with the warmth of his kiss with Ikaia only one year prior. It was startling how much different perspective could be in only a year. Kirito knew how scared they must be or how much they think they are going to die. Just one year ago he was one of them, hell he was the only one of them. Kirito knew more than anything what it was like to be alone. However, he also knew what it was like to be forgotten. He had to make sure Harbinger knew Kirito still remembered.

Slowly Kirito nodded to the Peace Keeper as he turned the knob of the door and entered the far too similar room. Just above was the mayor's office, a place Kirito knew quite well also. However all Kirito could see now was the large figure before him as he shut the door softly. Words were always hard for Kirito to form but in this situation they were even harder but as a mentor he had to push through it. For them both Kirito would push through it.

Clearing his thoughts slightly to calm down he spoke gently to the man before him. "Hey Harbinger," it was a simple start but at least it was a start, " First of all I want you to know I am here to help you. No one was there for Crusader to help guide him, but I am going to be here for you. I promise."

There is a Key to every gate and every exit,

Harbinger Rhodes

I know that having mentors unlike my brother should be comforting. I never thought I'd be standing in the same room with one during the customary goodbyes. Kirito Miristioma of all people. I don't know him all that well. Other than him being the second of what is hopefully many victors from eleven. "I must admit Kirito, I didn't expect a personal visit until the train. Don't get me wrong, I feel grateful that you'd take the time to see me personally. Question is, why?" I'm not trying to come off as rude. Nothing like that. Its just, I never expected a personal visit from one of the victors.

I get my answer the second he mentions Crusader. He's telling me that he'll be here for me and that he'll help. Katelyn and Kirito can't help both of their mentees though. They can only bring one of us home. I know what my brother would do were he alive and in my place. He'd ask them to save the other. I have to honor what he'd want of me. What I want of myself.

"Kirito. I know you and Katelyn can only bring home either me or Annora. The choice is obvious. Bring her home. Please. My brother would ask the same of you. I'm asking you to bring her home."

Kirito felt himself nodding as he shared the subtly shocking room with Harbinger. Kirito could easily see how it was odd of him to come and visit one of his tributes before the train, but as Kirito knew Harbinger was an exception. Kirito felt devotion towards Annora as well but with Harbinger Kirito felt like there was so much he owed him. Kirito could only imagine what it would have been like if Crusader had won and Kirito died then Ikaia was pulled into the wretched games. Crusader was a brute but with an unbreakable heart of the purest gold. Hell it was probably even harder than the diamonds of the Capitol. Crusader would have done what ever it took to help Kirito's brother and now he was simply doing the same.

Still Kirito made sure that he didn't just leave Harbinger waiting for an answer as his voice once again leaked from his mouth. "Well, the answer is rather easy. Crusader was a man I looked up to in every way. I know that if my own family was reaped and he was mentor then I know he would help them with all he could. Also I see something in you Harbinger, I see sparks of my old self, the one before the storm of the arena. If there is any kind of person that deserves to win its you."

Not surprising to Kirito's ears Harbinger valiantly declared that he would rather die and see Annora return home alive. Kirito found himself smiling weakly as he walked over to the window and glanced out over the District. "There you go proving my point, however, I will take what you said into heart but just know this Harbinger. When the games are going on anything can happen, Katelyn and I will give you both the best chances we can. We will do whatever it takes to keep you both alive."

As Kirito felt his words setting in he looked back over to the strong shelled tribute and spoke one last time. "Just please don't sell your life away so easily Harbinger. You have people who care about you like Elidor, like the district. You have power Harbinger, you are the natural mix of kindness and strength. I can see so clearly why Navya likes you so much, and for her I can't just let you slip away now can I."
