Bottom of the barrel that was what I was, what I was always born to be. For all my life people snickered and sneered at me because of what I was. There wasn't even a single damn thing I could do about it, it was all because of the way I was born. Normally light would rush into the eyes of a new born child but that was not the case for me. When I was brought into this new world all that welcomed me was the same darkness as the last. From the views of the healers who assisted in my birth they only saw a milky eye colored squirming infant. Yet to everyone I was a waste of life here in Eleven. I was a blind boy, someone who could not work in the fields at the risk of danger. Someone who had to live a pampered life to carry on. Someone who natural selection had clearly intended to screw the fuck over. Still though, I proved them all wrong, hell my entire family proved everyone wrong.

In the beginning growing up was harsh, with limited supplies and constant nights of hunger it seemed that I along with my entire family clan would perish. All of us, the entire Miristioma Clan were scarping the bottom of the poorest groups in the District. Then you simply add in the disability of no sight and you officially slam through the bedrock into a place known as rock bottom. All my life I have been there as someone the entire District would rather erase than try to accept. Still though, I never knew that until I was twelve and Valentina, my younger sister stood up for me in the sanctions of a school hall. It was only in that moment I realized the ridicule that forced me into utter isolated loneliness. Yet never for a moment did I let their cruelty destroy me, instead it only pushed me harder to achieve my aspirations of acceptance.

To gain wait I thirsted for I pushed myself ten times as hard as anyone else. Although learning to read and to write were off the table I still excelled past the rest of the kids and claimed the head of my class, or possibly school even. While they all dealt with mediocrity and working I pushed my limited to memorize everything by sounds given to me in the form of stories. Although all I have known is utter darkness I can still dream about what I or even the world and others around me look like. That is why in the form of audible stories I thrive the most. It is in these scenes I feel the most connected to the world I was denied from. As childish as it sounds, I feel as though my life depends upon these things. Sadly though the others did not agree and even with my astounding success in school with audible tests and such I was still shoved beneath everyone else's boots.

Yet even with these acts of horrendous rage and nonacceptance I never faltered once, instead I pushed even harder. For anyone who truly knows me they understand just how dedicated I am to my dreams. When I have my mind locked onto a goal I damn right go out into the world and score it. Never once did I spend my life crying about the hand of cards I was dealt but instead I keep going around and increasing my hand to match those who surround me. Although a lack of eyesight to some may seem like a shocking disadvantage to me it was my greatest advantages and not just for my other heightened senses either. I love my disability so much because it has fueled me to do so much more than just lay down and give in. It has given me the reason to keep on chasing my dreams and to ignore the curses of the demons who torment me.

With the failure of gaining my rights as an equal through education I turned towards another route even more impressive, the route of music. It all began when I first stumbled across an old forsaken shack on the outskirts of the district, or well at least I think it was a shack. As Valentina and I walked around searching for anything we could find my foot hit against an object that in return created a startled note. Swiftly I dove my hands towards the object as I lifted what I soon would know as a guitar into my arms. Little did I know at the time it would take another two months to fully reconstruct it, but once finished it become my passion instantly. Not only did this guitar give me the muse of happiness but it also became a key distraction for my family from the hunger that bit at our stomachs like wolves in the night. Yet once again no matter how good at playing the instrument's strings I got thanks to my quick learning the others still turned their backs to me in shame. But shortly after that was the day that everything in the Miristioma's lives changed.

Through the darkest moment of our history besides multiple deaths while working in the fields came the moment we were all saved from our damnation. In a matter of only a few weeks my cousin and part of the main family, Kirito Miristioma won the 70th Quell Games. After that moment everything shifted as we were all vaulted onto the complete opposite side of the spectrum. No longer did we live in small shacks with constantly hungry bellies but instead in relatively decent houses bought by Kirito along with some nice clothing. Not to mention that with Kirito's new title and the strength now associated with our family's name all kinds of people now greeted me with the upmost respect. "Hey Hachiro! Oh look Hachiro! Say hey to Kirito for us!" With one victor added to our Clan we became practically untouchable to the scum that had despised me and us all. Yet now we stood proudly over them beside my cousin.

Besides the obviously nice change of settings, my overall body also went through new changes as it no longer suffered from the brutality of starvation. Valentina constantly tells me that my eyes look much more blue then they ever did before which apparently brings out the lovely mixed skin tone I have. She also mentions that my once ragged dust riddled brown hair was as dark and rich as that of finally made chocolate. As much as I would love to know what exactly it was she was describing me as I honestly didn't really care all that much. To me there was really only one main thing I noticed, I was healthier. Little did I know of the possibility that would be coming my way shortly after Kirito returned home.

I still remember the day clearly, the sun was blazing its heat down as usual and I was making my way over to the Victor's Village after school. My body was covered in a firm layer of sweat by the time I reached the relief of the cooled house. Only then did everything suddenly change as Kirito offered to have the Capitol give me eyesight if I wanted. He mentioned how it would be a long process but he said he would purchase it for me if I desired, yet in that moment I couldn't even mumble. For the first time ever I had the option to see the world just as everyone else saw it, but for some reason I didn't want to. For me my life was suppose to be lived in the darkness of my thoughts and I had long since accepted that and allowed it to mold me into the boy I was today. I was smart, determined, and overall just a very mature young teenage boy. So with all these traits backing me I smiled and genuinely said no to his offer. I believe it was in that very moment that I finally truly was willing to accept the life I had, even if I thought I already had.
