When they describe the apothecary’s daughter, the first thing they mention is her looks. First, her skin, the color of brown sugar much like many others that live in the poorer areas of the poorest district. Next, her eyes, a dark chocolate brown with a warmth behind them that immediately puts any who stare into the girl’s gaze at ease. Never to turn a blind eye to one in need, she somehow manages to achieve this despite her hardships.

How the small, slim girl from the Seam manages to shrug off burdens such as being bullied, living in relative poverty, and, to a certain extent, death and disease. How whenever she gets knocked down, physically or mentally, she simply grits her teeth and gets right back up. No matter what happens, it seems that nothing can break her. She also maintained an education, getting the best she could in District Twelve, yet her social life was often non-existent.
