Into the Woods ( Rinji and Carter ) @kaplan

Rinji wasn't sure exactly why is was that he decided to venture out into the woods that day. It wasn't too out of the ordinary of a thing for him to do, but it certainly wasn't done every day. Today, however, he had ventured outside. While on his walk, he went into the woods, and was meandering through. He would pass by bushes and trees, as well as other plants and shrubbery. He knew where to avoid, like where animals where trapped, as he certainly didn't want to get caught himself. It seemed, however, that not everyone knew that.

Hearing a scream a bit deeper in the woods, it sounded like that of a boy not too much younger than Rinji was. Rinji knew where the scream had come from, too. It was right around the area he had been avoiding- an area full of animal traps. Despite it being winter, people still had animals that they liked to hunt, and that meant there were traps. Therefore, this was an area of the woods that people avoided year round, even though it wasn't off limits to the district. Being the lumber district, there was a lot of open forest that the people of the district were aloud to access.

Rinji started to head in the direction of the scream, however, he was very careful as he walked. Perhaps the person who had screamed had gotten caught in one of the traps. Regardless of whether they had or not, Rinji didn't want to get caught himself. He walked for a minute or so, now having realized how close he had been to the source of the scream, and then came across something a bit odd. In a net, there was not an animal, but a boy. He looked to be a couple years younger than Rinji, as he had guessed by what he had heard. This meant that the boy was likely about sixteen.

Approaching the boy in the net, Rinji figured he would offer to help. After all, he had his pocket knife with him. He always carried a knife. He wasn't quite sure why, though, as until now, it had been very rare that he ever needed it. The most recent time he could think of having had to use it was when his friend that he was walking with had gotten his shirt so badly stuck on a branch somehow, that they had to cut him down by cutting through his shirt with Rinji's knife.

"Hey, you want some help?" Rinji said to the boy. "I have a pocket knife with me, so I could cut that net off of you if you'd like." Rinji told the boy.
