Racing the Snow [kaplan // blitz]

Jasmine was one who tended to get cold really easily. She didn't like to venture outside in the cold too often, but on occasion, when her friends convinced her to, she would. Today, however, it wasn't even the convincing of her friends that got her to go outside. This time, it was simply because she felt like going on a bit of an adventure. Having gone outside, and gone on a bit of a walk, she was startled at the sound of laughter. Jasmine was always someone who was startled really easily, and this had made her jump, turning around fast.

That was when she realized it was simply someone having fun, playing in the snow. That looks cold... yet fun. Jasmine thought to herself. She picked up a clump of snow from the ground, and formed it into a snowball in her hands. Throwing it at a nearby tree, it broke into pieces. She laughed a bit as well.

"Do you play in the snow a lot?" asked Jasmine to the boy, with a bit of a laugh.

The boy who had been playing in the snow didn't seem to realize that Jasmine was speaking to him at first. When he did realize it, however, he seemed quite enthusiastic, exclaiming that he loved the snow and the cold. Jasmine found this somewhat funny. Then, she felt a cold ball of snow hitting her on the shoulder. She jumped a bit, even though she knew where it came from. The boy who had been playing in the snow had pelted her with a snowball. She wasn't upset, however. She actually thought that this could be quite fun.

"Haha, you're not the only one who knows how to throw!" Jasmine exclaimed as she launched her own snowball towards the boy, aiming for his chest. She hoped it would hit. Otherwise, her exclamation that implied she could throw too, wouldn't really mean much.

Maybe the cold isn't too bad after all. The snow seems fun, after all! were the thoughts in the girl's head. She pushed her chocolate brown hair out of her face, and smiled at the boy. He sort of reminded her of the innocent playfulness that her boyfriend, Sycamore had. Not quite in the same way, but regardless, both boys seemed to love to goof around.

He can throw better than I can? she thought to herself. Ha, he hopes so! As she was thinking just that, another snowball had come hurtling at her, hitting her in the stomach. This time, she hadn't been paying attention because of being somewhat lost in her thoughts, and jumped again. Ugh, why do I get startled so easily? she demanded of herself in her head. She then hurled a snowball towards the boy.

"How good is your aim? Can you hit a moving target?" Jasmine teased. She then ran back and forth a little bit, teasingly, wanting him to try to hit her with a snowball. It was something that she expected he would likely be able to do, but she wanted to mess around a bit to test his skills. This was much more fun than she had expected it to be!

Gosh, I haven't had this much fun in a while! Maybe it's because the games are over. Everyone is so much more carefree and less tense around here when they're not going on. were the next thoughts going through Jasmine's mind. She was glad that everything seemed to be so much more fun and with less tension when the games weren't going on.

As the first snowball passes by Jasmine while she was running, she laughs a bit. Then, however, she gets hit in the arm by another snowball. It had hit her when she didn't expect it, and, as usual, she jumped. Why was it that even when it wouldn't be too shocking too most people in a certain situation for something like that to happen, that she still jumped? She was never sure of that. Someone could be talking to her, and then tap her on the shoulder midway through the conversation. Despite seeing it coming, or at least knowing it was going to happen, she was still someone who would jump. He must have made that one rather quickly. she thinks to herself.

Following up his snowball with a laugh, she spoke to him again and stopped running. "Not bad!" she said to him. "Do you do this a lot? I think you're starting to make me actually enjoy being out in the snow and cold." she asked and then admitted. It was very rare for Jasmine to ever think: I like the snow.
