"Welcome everybody to the final part of the Ms/Mr Capitol Pageant!"
Poria's voice was as serious as she could manage. This was, after all, the most important part of the Pageant. It was the reason President Snow allowed it to be televised. "Tonight, all of these contestants will come up to this stage to speak about Panem and our great leader President Snow!"

This was the last section of the pageant, but also the toughest. Anyone can flaunt a dress, but who can flaunt a country with their words? That was what Poria was looking for tonight. The lights fell down to a single white spotlight.

"Panem, let's meet our contestants all together for one last time."

The last part of the pageant competition wasn't that difficult compared to his inability to actual properly show off his better talents in the talent show. Still, he believed that his evident show of his skill at remembering everything, recalling what he wanted, as well as his stellar performance in maths had been exemplary. Paul Smith had once been a Head Gamemaker, and to hold such a title meant you needed to know how to stand before people to get a job done. You didn't have to prepare yourself when Joe rocked up in your office saying his mutt had unintentionally gone rogue, killing a tribute. There was no palm cards for a speech in your draw labelled 'worst case scenario', he spoke, words threatening and cold because he had to. It wasn't that difficult.

He had no need for a fancy outfit, just like with the talent show he was a neat tuxedo, however his tie had been replaced with a bow. His nimble fingers -used to all those aching hours of typing and writing- straightened his bow tie, before gently pulling on his coat to make sure it was ready. It was the bet way for him to tell himself he could do this. With a last, lingering deep breathe he stepped onto the stage, a smile easily finding his lips as each of his steps lit up. He could live in this starlight forever.

"I'm the type of man that will drink orange juice after brushing his teeth." He declared, moving his hand up to adjust his glasses, crooked grin in place as the crowd fell into silence. "The kind of person that would dip their paper cut into lemon juice, just to prove a point." He spread his arms out wide, stepping closer to the crowd, his deep voice ringing out, for everyone to hear. "The Capitol is my home, and I have represented it with the utmost honour. Everyone in this building knows my name, because everyone knows that one of the greatest honours is to Gamemake, President Snow wouldn't allow a mere believer to take his steering wheel, but only those he trusted deeply." Gamemaking was pouring your love, and your life into developing the Capitols greatest game. He was more then some rich, pretty boy. He's devoted his life to the Capitol.

"You don't want your Mr Capitolite to be the kind of person that laughs when you knock you elbow, telling you that's the funny bone. You want someone who'll stand tall after stubbing their cold toe on a chair." He waved a hand outwards, sweeping gestures to highlight his points. "To represent this great nation you need strength, fortitude and love, and believe me, citizens of the Capitol, I love our home." Smiling brightly, he waved to the crowd, their cheering his reward, they shouted his name.

"I've already promised to give this nation my life, to follow President Snow to the ends of this world, I am Mr Capitol."

Canus stepped to the podium wearing a formal suit now, and looking serious and sombre. He carried no notes for he had the message he wished to convey clear in his mind, and he didn’t want to sound over-rehearsed as if he were reading to the audience. He had an important message, one that he believed in and felt strongly about, and he wanted to speak to them, not at them.

His voice was clear and confident despite his youth. “There has been a lot of focus today, as in many events in the Capitol of late, on the Hunger Games and the District residents who fight in them, their families, lovers and so forth.”

“I am guilty of this too.” He winked cheekily at the cameras as he admitted his own shortcomings, in order to take some of the sting out of his words. “I adore watching the Games and gossiping with my friends as to who might win and how long it will take the rest to die. You will remember I dedicated my fashion segment to President Snow, as is right and proper. But my talent segment was clearly a tribute, pardon the pun,” he paused to allow a murmur of amusement to pass through the crowd, “to the Games and the tributes who fight in them.”

He pointed a finger at the camera, as if calling out each individual personally. “I wish to challenge all of us listening today to look inside ourselves and really think. Do we worship the Tributes, the Victors and everything associated with them, far, far too much?” Canus paused, allowing a ripple of confusion and consternation to pass around the audience.

He clicked the button on the remote in his pocket and started the presentation he had prepared. The first photograph was of Benson Tiero, taken when he was Head Game Maker.

“I’ve been thinking lately about the Games and what they mean. I was lucky enough to have the great Mr Benson Tiero, visit my home recently and we discussed this very topic. He helped me to think about how the Games is so much more than entertainment. The entertainment is important as it motivates us all to watch and learn from it. But the true purpose of the Games is as a warning and a reminder to the Districts that they are INFERIOR to us in every way.”

The footage on the screens changes to the last Reaping in District 11. Canus has carefully selected shots of nobodies who were in the background of the official footage. It shows the dull washed out clothing, lack of makeup, and by Capitol standards, some pretty unattractive people from the crowd. Canus allowed the audience to feel uncomfortable looking at such horrid scenes for a long while, before changing the image to Harbinger Rhodes as he took his throne of victory.

“Have you seen the footage of District Eleven lately? They seem to think they are important because they’ve won three times in a row. But are they?” Canus paused and looked directly into the cameras showing his doubt and concern. “The Games should not be an opportunity for the Districts to gloat and be prideful. Quite the opposite; it is a reminder of their betrayal, the death and destruction they wreaked in their ill conceived rebellion.” He banged the podium with his fist to punctuate his words and show how angry this gloating made him when the Districts had done so much harm.

“We in the Capitol need to remind ourselves, while we talk of nothing other than who is winning, placing bets on them, marvelling at the tribute’s primitive intuition, for we cannot think of it as intelligence, that it is US, the Capitolites, not the District plebs, who are triumphant, resilient, intelligent and to be celebrated. The Games belong to US, not THEM.”

“Can one imagine the Games run by the Districts?” The screen showed a short animated cartoon of what was presumably farmers from District 11 farcically running around trying to attack one another with various fruits and vegetables. “What a fiasco that would be! Everyone would be made to look so drab and ugly, and all the events would lack any sophistication or class.”

The screen switched to a montage of well known celebrities from the Capitol looking absolutely fabulous. “The Tributes only manage to pull off a small modicum of stage presence because of Capitol residents working in their prep teams, on their costumes, and in the Games themselves, cutting all the dull boring and mundane things they do, so we only watch the exciting parts.”

The images slowly shifted to less well known figures, all from the Capitol, showing them in the best possible light, smiling and looking fabulous. “Of course we all should WATCH the Games, I am not suggesting that we stop. But rather than hysterically revering the Victors, let’s focus more of our energy on people such as the Game Makers, the scientists engineering new mutts for our entertainment, and our government, who give us the security we enjoy.”

The officially sanctioned image of the President was then shown on the screens and everyone rose to their feet out of respect. “And so I dedicate this speech to President Snow, the ultimate in Capitolite’s, leading us towards an even brighter future, ensuring our safety and prosperity through his wisdom and foresight.” The crowd cheered in agreement and then sat back down for the conclusion.

“I also dedicate this speech to all of us in the Capitol.” At Canus’ direction the cameras are taken off him and focused on the audience. “I want you all to turn to the person next to you and tell them how wonderful they are, how superior and remarkable, far more interesting and well educated than those rough, dirty peasants we watch on our screens so often.” He paused again, smiling at the audience and waiting for them to follow his instructions. They became excited to participate when they saw the cameras on them, all wanting their brief moment of fame. “That’s it, shake their hand and tell them honestly that you value them more than any Victor.”

Once the audience had enjoyed that little self-congratulatory exercise and quietened back down they turned back to Canus and saw his face was no longer smiling, but he looked triumphant, his fist raised above his head in salute. “We should take the time to celebrate US,” he punched his chest with his fist before raising it up again, “ for we, each and every one of us in the Capitol, are the true and original VICTORS!”

MAVERICK MILES

After so many years working in broadcasting, Maverick Miles had gotten used to writing his own speeches. He was so talented at it that he often wrote speeches out of work, as well. When Topaz disappeared to the Training Center for a few weeks, she came to a speech about how good their daughters were, and how neglected her husband. When his boss promoted Caesar Flickerman above Maverick, he got a speech about honoring dedication and work ethic. He barely stop himself from expounding loquaciously on any topic.

His speech for the pageant had been perfect, and then Canus had taken the stage and dashed all of his hopes.

"Which Victor snubbed you?" He muttered backstage to the styling team. It was not Maverick-the-Performer, not even Maverick-the-Father, whose blood boiled. It was Maverick-Who-Loved-Topaz-Ross whose heart rate soared, who tore up the paper of his speech. As Canus wrapped up, Maverick turned to the stage manager and whispered fiercely.

He strode out onto the stage, as comfortable there as in his recliner chair at home. He took a deep breath, bowed to Poria Rain, and began. "President Snow. As I have often spoken of you in the past, and have dedicated my life's work to verbalizing your glory, I'd instead like to dedicate this performance to you."

This time when he bowed, his hair swept the stage's floor boards. When he rose, the normal, easy smile had vanished. He stood quiet plainly before the cameras. "I think we have forgotten one very important thing. If the purpose of this pageant is to choose the best of the Capitol, and the goal of this section to laud Panem and President Snow, why then, we only need to look around this room. The very best of the Capitol are gathered here tonight, and I for one would like to pay my respects."

He let that thought stretch for a breath. Then, as a maestro might, Maverick stretched out his arms and lifted them. As his hands rose, the stage manager drew up the curtains, revealing the remaining contestants back stage.

Maverick spent the remainder of his time offering a bow and a smile to each and every one of them.

When his gaze once more lit on Poria Rain, Maverick drew his hands together in prayer. He exited the stage reciting a part of their great history. "Iam pridem, ex quo suffragia nulli uendimus, effudit curas; nam qui dabat olim imperium, fasces, legiones, omnia, nunc se continet atque duas tantum res anxius optat: panem et circenses."

They want me to make a speech about how great the Capitol is. They want me to tell them what they want to hear, and they want me to pretend like I actually feel that way. Well, they have another thing coming to them.

I am taking my time today, in front of all of Panem, to explain a few things that people seem to have trouble realizing. If there was ever a time to set the record straight, it was now. In the end this might end up being more entertaining than winning the pageant. While having a successful modelling Career might allow me to actually help Colgate pay for things - I hate to rely only on his income and that of my parents - it would also detract from the already limited time that we have together. With his living in District nine, my living in the Capitol, and the fact that he only was allowed back when the Games were in operation - I had had to fight so many rules to get him to stay for this competition - we had a convoluted method of spending time with one another. The last thing I needed was a job that would compromise that.

Still, I wouldn't mind having my name on things.

I stand here, wearing an outfit reminiscent of something Siren would have worn, waiting for my cue. When the backstage manager nods at me I know the moment is now. Taking a deep breath, I imagine being Siren once more and adopt her stride, her straight back, and - unbeknownst to all - her accent. It was time to give the Capitol a heart attack.

Taking my position on stage, I make sure my microphone is on and working, then I begin.

"I want to let you in on a little secret, something that no one knows. Leon Krigel didn't kill Siren Baitwell," I pause to let my face and voice and words reach the crowd. They didn't leave me disappointed. I hear at least a couple gasps and once more they throw her name at me. "Siren?" They are fools, though, hopeful fools that I needed to show a true reality. I shake my head, "she drowned herself." Now I know I have the attention of people, but I can't tell whether it is good or bad. The room feels like there are a hive of wasps resting just below the surface, their intimidating buzzing starting to fill the air. How much longer until they swarm?

I drop Siren's accent, no longer sounding like I am from District four but instead the Capitol, like the rest of them. "I am not Siren Baitwell. She does not live and breathe before you. My name is Cordelia Iraen Eaglebrooke. You see her face in my features and you hear her voice when I speak -" here I revert back to Siren's speech "- especially when I talk like this -" once more I resume my own manner of speaking "- but I am not her."

The hive is growing restless, their vibrations running through my body like each of their wing beats is a shiver through my skin. I feel all eyes on me but I draw up what courage I have. That wasn't even the worst of what I have to say. "The Capitol does not have as much power as you think. We can not bring back the dead, we can not cure all illnesses, we can not change who wins the Hunger Games." The wasps are rising, growing indignant. I am not saying what I am supposed to, I am not saying what they want to hear.

Too fucking bad.

"We control through fear and greed, but that's not real power. Each year we expend so much energy trying to squash the Districts - the places that keep us alive - when we would be so much better off in working with them." Fuck them if they don't like it, I have seen the way District nine struggles with my own eyes. It has been five years since Colgate won and they are falling back into the same terrible circumstance that they started with. Only Colgate and his family remain well fed - not that they've had much of an appetite lately. The gloom that had surrounded Colgate must have been the same gloom that would have swallowed the O'Leary's residence. For the brief time that I knew her, Hannah was as good as my own sister. Even still, I only knew a fraction of their pain.

"We think those from the Districts are savages, are inferior and stupid, are only as good as the supplies that we steal from them." The wasps are about to fly, but I don't care. "I know better. I have seen the people of District nine. I am in love with a man from there, a man you all know. We give great acclaim to the victors because they kill for our amusement, they are trapped under President Snow's thumb and his fingers are wrapped in their strings. He threatens their families if they don't cooperate." I try and make myself as tall as I can - which at my 5'10" is not a bad accomplishment - and ready myself for the swarm. "I am in love with a victor, and I can tell you: he is worth more than his crown."

The wasps start to fly but I am ready. They do on chase me off stage, they do not drive me to run away. I bow to them all, then stand and salute like Siren had when she had first emerged into the arena.

The buzzing is all I can hear as I walk off of the stage.

His heart fluttered in his chest like butterfly wings. He couldn’t believe the pageant was almost over; it was like a beautiful sunset yet he wasn’t prepared for the night to come. He didn’t want to leave the stage and all its grandeur, and he certainly didn’t want to leave the smiling faces of the audience. He felt his heart glow when they cheered for him. Even if he didn’t win or place as the runner up, he wouldn’t forget the experience, and he hoped there would be more pageants to come.

His heart lodged itself into his throat, but he managed to walk onstage with a smile on his face. He would miss this; the stage lights, the judges and their encouraging expressions, the audience humming and clapping and cheering. Although he felt his own nerves buzzing from anxiety, he liked standing here in front of everyone. He preferred the displays of fashion and talent over the nerve-wracking delivery of a speech, but he would try anyhow. This was something he could conquer. He had practiced so hard. All he had to do was avoid choking on his own words.

He cleared his throat and began. ”When I was five, my parents died in a hovercraft accident,” he said, pausing to allow himself and everybody else a moment of silence if they needed it. ”This is proof that there is still tragedy in beautiful places like The Capitol. Thankfully, a family friend decided to take me in and raise me as their own. They are the Fenwicks, and as I’m sure you know, they own one of the largest businesses in The Capitol.”

He smiled again, praying that Copernicus Fenwick was here to see him. ”I’m not a businessmen; that legacy was never bestowed upon me, but I do know that these businessmen work hard to keep our country stable, and we all know stability is important. Whether it’s within our beautiful houses and shops, or within ourselves, we need it! Otherwise how would we function?”

He paused to take a calming breath. His ears were pink and his heart was on his sleeve but he was okay, he had rehearsed this. He wouldn’t mess it up.

”But the businessmen and women aren’t the only ones keeping this country together. We all have a part to play. Shop owners, restaurant owners, the fashion industry, the Gamemakers, pageant contestants, and everyone else is all important, even the people who sit at home and gush over their favorite celebrities for hours on end. We’re all a piece of the bigger picture, we all keep this place amazing.”

He kept his posture straight to appear confident.

”Then, of course, there’s President Snow sitting atop of everything. He is intelligent, political, and also charitable to his people. Why, he threw a masquerade ball for us! Those of you who attended, I’m sure you remember how extravagant that was!” One of the most romantic moments of my life, he wished he could add, but the love story was too personal. It would stray away from his central topic.

”I just want to bring to light every single citizen’s importance, including President Snow and all of his associates. We make Panem great. Even when we are an imperfect nation we are the ones who strive to make it feel perfect, and I want to thank everyone for that.”

He bowed and took one last breath. ”Thank you, and good night.”

A R Y A

Bringing myself to the stage, I realise this is the closest to the beginning that I'll ever be. A paragraph or two from the end of my story and countless moments away from when the process begun. It had been a ride, one which had been on a rocky road with a drunken driver -- but somehow, it felt normal. And there was no upset any more, there was just an expectation to perform.

I fill with emotion, suddenly realising that this is all or nothing. There is no prize for third or second place, there's only a gold for first. My eyes flicked across to the other competitors and I feel the butterflies escape their cage and soar into my stomach and it all comes back. I have to win, for my family and our future, and most importantly, for myself, because it'd been one hell of a battle to get to this position.

Readying myself slowly, in and out, in and out, I make my way onto the stage. Wearing a businesslike suit with a feminine twist, I felt professional yet comfortable. A quick smile is thrown towards the judges to which their expressions remain somewhat blank. The lights go down, and I feel all eyes on me. Opening my mouth, I let the words flow out.

"I came into this process scared of the unknown. Would I be a good competitor, would I fit in among the young and old, would I succeed?" I begin to pace around the stage, using gestures to aid my voice. "Yes. The ability to succeed is in our blood. Victors of games unbroadcast, we each are our own. It is in the little things we do to the large, take a look around."

I step forward. "We are all our own success stories. No matter how rich or how poor, how tall or short. We all have something to be proud of. And it's the Capitol that has given us an atmosphere to be who we are. President Snow: our saviour, our saving grace. We owe our greatness to him."

"I can honestly say, because of this experience, I'm never going to put boundaries on myself, ever again. I'm never going to say 'I can't do it' and I'm never going to say 'maybe' because I've learnt to be great." I exhale. "I can and I will, thanks to you all."

"Thank you."

I wipe a tear from my eye. A teenage girl emotional was a story everyone had heard, but circumstances make my tears different: I am happy. And to me, that's the greatest prize to come from this, and it's all I could ever ask for.

It was finally Cynthia's turn after a long while of waiting and waiting for all the other contestants to finish their mind-numingly dull speaches about how wonderful the capitol is blah blah blah. It was finally time for action, the good kind of action that is. The action of pleasing a crowd.

Cynthia strode up to the front of the stage and grinned, her pearly white teeth litterally shining from small jewels that had been inlade in the teeth for this special occasion. Cynthia adjusted her voice so that it was loud and clear, so that everyone could here what she had to say.

"What is a pageant?" she began with the rhetorical question, "It is a way of proving who is the best out of a group of people. I suppose you could say that this is the hunger games in the Capitol! With a lot less blood though." she giggled slightly at her own joke,

"This is what the Capitol does. The capitol loves bringing out the best in people and the best of the people. I can see that just from looking out at this marvelous crowd today." The small girl paused for effect, "I know you are here today to see who is the best of the best. The best of the Capitol and the best of the small selection standing here before you today."

"I come before you today with this short speech as to not bore you, but instead to reveal to those disbileavers out there in those horrid, grimy districts that the Capitol is the best of the best." Cynthia flashed a smile out at the crowd,

"and now I depart with these last words. Remember that the capitol is the best!" she paused for a minute smiling before her last words, "Thank you." then she spun on her heels with a small giggle and walked back to backstage.

(OOC: i originally had something really extravagant and awesome planned out, but then towards the end of my original post I accidently clicked an otm button(curse you kindle screen) and I had to type this up quickly since I have to go. Thank you for taking the time to read this boring mess!)

Ice ran through Naomi's veins as her skin shuddered with anticipation. All through the back stage silence hung like a heavy fog in the morning. For the third time in such a short amount of time Naomi watched as her finger nails shifted from one color to the next with a fresh coat of paint. Black transformed into a breath taking dark purple and her lips were applied with a a fabulous red rose color. Her skin was lighter than normal from her make up but all to bring out the brown, gold, and purple that flushed in her eye shadow. Even her eye liner was so specifically applied that her keen eyes couldn't spot a single error. Thankfully this time she also didn't have to color her hair or mix it with glitter. No, this time it ran naturally flowing behind her head just to about her shoulder blades.

The gentle touch of Naomi's guide on her shoulder stirred her from the mirror as she rose from the make up design chair one final time. However just before departing her room she allowed herself to take in the last outfit she would be seen in. Just as her nails the dress was a deeper and darker shade of purple with golden embroidery of roses, her own little shout out to the president herself. This time though her dress ended just below her kneecaps so her matching purple wedges were clearly displayed. Naomi had to admit she wasn't a fan of wedges or the way they felt when she walked, but for fashion and the spot light she would do it all.

The walk to actual back of the stage was one Naomi found rather nerve wracking which surprised her greatly. This entire time she hadn't feared anything, yet now upon minutes of her speech she felt it for the first time. Naomi truly couldn't explain the phenomenon that was occurring with her nerves considering she made speeches constantly about games outfits, not to mention her singing performances. Yet for some reason it all felt just so much more real here, the crowd was the same but she felt different. Although Naomi would never truly admit it she believed that this very competition could have changed her, for the better only time could tell.

Naomi was soon jostled from her thoughts has her fear rose one last time as she was summoned to the stage. Slowly she smiled and let it beam to the crowd as she even allowed a wave or two to occur before reaching the designated spot. It was now or never and Naomi knew that with the microphone in her hand and the spot light dancing over her skin that she was where she belonged and always strove to be. Taking in a light first breath she let her normal relaxed self light across her face as her words filled the air.

"I, just like many of you, if not all of you in this room was born here within the walls of the Capitol. I was born a bustling place filled with opportunities. I was born into the beating heart of this nation in which we are all a part of. Over the years I came to the full realization of just how amazing this heart truly is. As a child, I just like any other child, whether they are from the Capitol or all the way from District Twelve was fueled with dreams bigger than imagination itself. Yet since I was born within this miraculous place I was given the opportunities to make all of my aspirations a reality. All of the dreams that I dared to dream were capable of being reached all because of not just being born in the Capitol, but because of the society created here in Panem. It is thanks to the society created by President Snow."

Silence ebbed through the room like a wave as I let the moment of past dreams fill the minds of the audience for just a moment before continuing. "Now I am very aware that for many of the children and people within the Districts refuse to believe the words I am saying. They look towards people such as myself and undoubtedly hiss venomous words at their screens since they believe there is no true way to ever achieve the dreams they dream. I will be the first to admit that I do not know what it is like to live outside this very city, yet I will never agree with those who deny the very thing Panem gives to all its denizens. Opportunity is different in the Capitol than it is in the Districts without question, but President Snow and Panem as a whole has provided each and every person the opportunities to achieve whatever it is they desire." Once again Naomi allowed the room to swell with her words just briefly before continuing with a slightly louder voice than before. "President Snow has given the proud and powerful people of Panem's districts the biggest opportunity possible! In the past the Hunger Games were a reminder of the horrors of betrayal, but now they are each and every young person's opportunity to achieve things beyond their imagination! Sure there is the possibility of death but who can say they achieved their desires without taking risks? No one! Sure there are twenty three others vying for the same opportunity but that is life! Competition is expected whether it be survival or to get a job position! The games are terrifying to those who supply this very Capitol but if one can overcome their fear with true bravery and overcome the odds then they deserve to achieve the goals they dream of! It is from the games these people are prevailed to society and are given the lives they desire just like we in the Capitol go through our own metaphoric games to achieve our own desires. It is thanks to the Panem we live in that every person can achieve their dreams. It is thanks to President Snow above all for supplying us with this kind of world."

Naomi could feel her heart thundering in her chest as she let herself take a light curtsy before lightly finishing her speech. "In the end, thank you all for giving myself and the others this opportunity to achieve another one of our aspirations."

Nina Crowne

The speech portion. Ah, this is the part of the pageant I have been looking forward to the most. This is my chance to convince, to tug at the heartstrings of my viewers, to prove to those still doubtful that the Capitol has truly been a boon to them.

Sure, the more educated of the Capitolites read my newspapers, but television would enable me to have a far greater reach than just the Capitol, to even the illiterate fieldworkers in the Districts.

Today, my dress is long and simple, a gradient of hue that started at dark blue and swooped down to a pastel orange at the hem, matching the sunset behind me as I stepped to the stage. Clearing my throat, I began.

"We, as Capitolites," I state, "all have a burden we must bear for this country. And it is truly a burden of responsibility - each District, from the towering factories of One to the humble mines of Twelve, are our children. With the help of the technological discoveries of the glorious Capitol, all of us are progressing towards a higher state of civilization.

Like children, the people of the Districts are wild and devilish, and we must be patient with them, sending the best and most intelligent among us to quell the primitive traditions and prideful looks.

I have nothing but respect for those who take up this burden, for it is a thankless task - we are scorned by those of the Districts, unappreciated for our hard work and dedication, blamed by those you protect and hated by those you guard. But Capitolites, know that the blame and hate piled upon you are but a child's tantrum - and District denizens, know that we only seek to rule the twelve Districts for your own good. In time, if you have not already, you will come to realize the benefits of being governed under the Capitol.

We are under a time of greater economic prosperity than ever. Harvests are abundant; drought and famine have been conquered thanks to our superior scientific knowledge. Unemployment is at an all-time low, and the specializations of the Districts have allowed the country's natural resources to be used to their full potential, making us more efficient than ever. However, we must always remember our responsibility to this government, so that laziness does not become our downfall.

We are not children any longer, after all. It is time for all of us, as Capitol citizens, to take up the Capitolites' burden, and continue the glory of Panem. May our torch burn brighter, and the horn of plenty continue to overflow. Thank you."

Ms/Mr Capitol Pagaent

Stepping on to the stage was a bit nerve-wracking for the twenty-nine year old woman. She had lived in the Capitol her whole life, and despite being a model, she still got nerves when going in front of people, especially when she would be speaking. This would not show when she spoke, however, as she was rather good at keeping her voice calm, and not looking like she was overwhelmed or having any sort of anxiety over her speech.

As the woman stepped onto the stage in her high heels and flowing dress, she stepped up to the microphone. She was ready now, and began to speak to the crowd in a voice that sounded like that of a very enthusiastic announcer that you may see on television in the Capitol, or in a pageant like this. This sort of tone, of course, was expected.

"I am Amara King. It is likely, however, that most of you do not know who I am. Though, I am almost positive that you must know of our most amazing leader, President Snow. If it weren't for him, where would our entertainment be?" she said, looking out to the crowd. "We would not have the Hunger Games. Or, at least, they would not be quite the same. If someone else were in charge of them, how would they really play out? Surely they wouldn't be as entertaining."

"What's more? Without the fantastically inspiring President Snow, where would our country be in general? What would be the state of the Capitol? President Snow is the reason we are all able to stay together." Amara's voice was getting more enthusiastic and excited as she went.

She continued. "Now, why would this wonderful country of Panem want to be without President Snow? There is no reason. He is the reason this country is together. Without Snow, we fall. We would not fall like snowflakes. We would crumble."

Then, Amara stepped away from the microphone with a smile and a wave to the crowd, exiting the stage.
