If you asked anyone who knew Alyx well what he was like, they would reply with three, simple words: cunning, ambitious and resourceful. He will do anything it takes to achieve his goals, even breaking the law would be an option. Then again, this is probably expected from a guy in 'Fagin's Gang'. He will also use anything, or anyone, in order to finish the job, whether it be using an everyday object as a weapon or lying to someone to make them do his bidding.

Quite a lot of the time, Alyx can sneak away unnoticed, which is probably why he's so good at his 'job' of pickpocketing. He is quite shy, so it's natural for him to want to get away as quickly as possible, and to hide from people he has stolen from. Of course, hiding from the law (Peacekeepers) is another reason he likes to get away as quickly as possible, before anyone sees him.

Combat-wise, Alyx is pretty good. For the past 3 years, he has been trained to fight in the Games, so obviously he enjoys fighting. His strong point in combat is hand-to-hand combat (like punching and stuff), but he is terrible at long distance. He likes to be up-close and in the drama, despite being incredibly shy.

Alyx has no memory of his real parents, and chances are he'll never find out. It's not his fault that he didn't grow up around them - if anything, it's their fault for believing. 'Uncle Flynn' took him as a newborn baby, just moments after he was freed from the womb. His parents thought that be protected from the games if he given to Flynn, but, boy, were they wrong. Flynn took his away to become a member of Fagin's Gang, to be trained to steal and to fight in the Games.


Alyx was brought by a carer of obviously didn't care, along with several other boys living the same dreadful life as he did. There was harsh conditions in the area he grew up in, hardly being fed or cleaned and given the clothing of poverty. During his time in the 'nursery', he didn't make any friends, nor try to run away. He just stayed there, silent as a mouse, not daring to do anything can could reward him with an enemy. Still, during his time there, he gained several scars, not just from fighting with the other boys, but also from the poor conditions of the slum.


New babies came and old children went, all being brought and taken away by the same man. For many years, this confused Alyx - why was this strange man bringing new people into the building but then taking them back out again after several years? - but he soon got used to it. Just days after he turned 12 (not like he celebrated or anything), it was his turn. The strange man took him away, Alyx not even bothering to resist. “I’m your Uncle Flynn, Alyx," he said. "And from now on you’ll be living with me and my other nephews and nieces. I’ll be training you to work for me, won’t that be nice?” Alyx nodded, slightly scared of the man. Uncle Flynn gave him a painful squeeze, before saying, "You say, 'Yes, Uncle Flynn'". Quietly, Alyx replied with, "Yes, Uncle Flynn..."


Uncle Flynn then trained him to fight, and to steal from innocent members of the public. Alyx agreed to doing it all, without trying to resist. He had grown up without a responsible adult, how was he to know it was all against the law? To him, fighting and stealing was the right thing to do. And if he did the 'wrong' thing, he would be punished, even though the 'wrong' thing was quite often the 'right' thing to do. Steal, and he would get rewarded. Resist, and he would gained yet again another scar.


And so life went on. The life of a criminal. Now that Alyx is 15, he still has a lot to learn, but knows what to do and how to do it. Steal - that's it.
