(It's about time, but here's my first attempt at creating a character! Here's to hoping it's decent.)

Name: James Graydon
Age: 15
Gender: Male
District: 10
Appearance: James is definitely one to fit in with the crowd, with short brown hair, brown eyes, and slightly tanned skin, and he knows he isn't winning any beauty pageants. A bad habit of picking at scabs when he was younger left him with a few small scars on his arms that will probably never go away. He is about 5'7'' and weighs around 120 pounds, although this weight is more from muscle than fat, obviously. Years of working on his parents' farm has left him in fairly good physical shape, like most in the area. He has strong legs, and although he's never been the fastest runner, his stamina is something he prides himself on in neighborhood races, and he once carried a 150 pound foal into a barn during a storm, so he is moderately strong. He is not very agile, as he learned himself after breaking his arm trying to climb a tree. He will most likely be found wearing a pair of ripped jeans (he didn't get them that way) and a t-shirt, undoubtedly smeared with mud in some places.
Personality: James can't help his average looks, but he believes that his friendship can make up for them. He is always willing to go out of his way and meet new people, whether it be a new student or a passing Peacekeeper. He is quick to trust, and he knows it could hurt him, but no one his age really payed him enough attention to consider betraying him in any way. He always tends to be quick to a joke and appreciates it when people actually laugh at them. This sense of humor helped him to make some friends for a short time, but he's always pushed further out of their minds by other priorities until it was as if they had never met. While those his age tend to set him aside, he is able to easily converse with adults. He knows that they know that not ignoring him is proper social etiquette, and he sometimes wishes that he was an adult so they could speak to each other like friends rather than acquaintances. He hates to admit it, but when he meets other people, he almost expects them to eventually leave him. It's always been a large part of his life, and he's decided that standing out simply wasn't what he was meant to do. However, despite his friendly nature, he can't help but hold a grudge against the people who shut him out. He knows it's not really their faults, but he's always been spiteful, and if solitude taught him one thing, it is patience.
History: Perhaps it was dumb luck, or perhaps it was the kindness of his parents' employers, but James' family has always been somewhat better off than most in his district. Sure, there were plenty of people better off than him, but he rarely had to worry if he would have a meal on the table when he got home. James was born an only child to his parents, Vincent and Sara. His parents both owned a plot of land they had inherited from his dad's father, and it had earned the local nickname "Ol' Reliable," as it had four great growing seasons for every bad one. The land helped James and his family live somewhat comfortably for their occupation.
School for James, however, was an entirely different story. It wasn't as if he was bullied or stupid; he did well in his classes and was friendly to everyone. However, he couldn't claim that he had any close friends. He was overlooked at his classmates' celebrations, picked for sports teams only after all the really athletic kids were chosen. It wasn't that they meant him any spite. They simply had other friends, people they knew better. Occasionally, he tried to do something to stand out, whether it was becoming vegetarian for two weeks or starting rumors about himself. Eventually, around the age of 12, he reluctantly accepted his odd fate of absolute normalization. At times, he wished that he could stay at home and help his family on the farm like many his age, but his parents believed his education was too important, and their land could be taken care of with little help. So, he continued his schooling and helped his parents on the farm afterwards. It gets monotonous at times, but it's his life, and he's happy that it's his.
