The ceremony ended much faster than I thought it would, I never really got the chance to win over the crowd, I must be better once I get to the Capitol. My District partner seems like no threat to me, I can’t recall ever seeing his face before but damn it is a pretty one…

It seems the peacekeepers think that as soon as a tribute is reaped, they lose the use of their legs as I have been dragged along everywhere since my name was pulled from that glass bowl. Currently I am being dragged through the halls of the justice building. These walls are long overdue a lick of paint, there is such a musky feeling lingering in the air in here; it feels as though I am in a morgue. So many have been chaperoned down these halls, none so than the ever so recent Someith Krearns.

The male from last year, was the ideal male for me. He was so close to coming home, his acts in the arena were to die for and well…he had a pretty face. If I ever found a guy like him, their life expectancy would be much longer than the other twelve. Ewan Block was the first and rightly the most memorable. A strong boy in mind and physicality, he started my spree. He shouldn’t have refused my orders. He shouldn’t have had such beautiful eyes. Those eyes, a human’s eyes become more treasurable when they’re dead. Of course I wasn’t that psychotic to gorge his eyes out once I killed him. But I wish I did.

Being locked away in this secluded room, I’d sit by the table that centres it. This room is as dull as my sister. The only light seems to be that of the sun’s, seeping through the poor excuse of a window. I can imagine the other tributes sitting in this room, cussing at the Capitol for sending them to slaughter but I am more worried about missing out on my date tonight. Jonas was a prized catch and the Capitol stole him from me. Obviously I have better reasons to become victor than to return and continue with a date but with such a title as a Victor, I am sure I’ll be able to grab a date with anyone. Oh wow, all those boys and their beautiful faces that I could pick up.

Running my finger across the surface of the table, I’d wait impatiently for whoever bothers to visit me. As my finger races across the wood, it reaches the obstacle of a splinter and I’d let it run straight over it. Attacking my skin, the splinter would pierce through the tip of my finger sending a weak sharp stinging pain up my hand. Swiftly pulling the splinter from my finger, I’d watch as the ruby blood swims down my finger, staining it as it reaches my hand. Placing my finger on my cheek, I’d paint my face with the blood, two simple lines on either cheek.

This is me preparing, this me saying I am ready.

Sucking my finger, I’d consume the rest of the blood before I make a mess of the room. I need to give immersion experience if I want to be sponsored. The Capitol want entertainment and I will give it to them.

Swinging open the door would introduce the familiar faces of my creators, followed by my little brethren and twin pig sister. Odette remains by the door, while Jamie hurries towards the table. I can see the horrified expression on my mother’s face, the woman is too worried. ”What is that on your face?” My mother says. Oh yes the blood, I forgot about that. ”It’s nice to see you already covered in blood.” My father says, remaining by my mother’s side. Resting my head on the palm of my hand, I’d prepare myself for the words I expected from my mother. I can already see the tears brewing in her eyes. ”Please be careful Henrietta! Watch your back and come home safe, use that training!” Mouthing each word she speaks, I’d only respond with a nod. ”Put that fighting spirit of yours to good use.” My father adds to mother’s plea. That comment I can only agree too, my father knows me too well.

Thankfully they don’t know about the boys, they wouldn’t be stood in here if they knew about all those twelve boys. I should be branded as a criminal but I’ve never been caught, so what can I brand myself as? Secret man-killer? Dominatrix? Careful murderer? Maybe I should let someone else decide.

I’ve never known two minutes to drag on as long as the two I had to endure, my eyes were on the door the whole time, praying for the peacekeeper to return and kick these soft pigs out. All I did was nod and say yes as my mother brawled and my father pat her back. My sister seems to not care, it is understandable that Jamie is worried for me however…he is only twelve.

”Times up, time to say goodbye.” Finally, a breath of fresh air is near. My mother hugs and kisses me on the cheek. My father kisses me on the forehead. Jamie gives me a strong powerful hug. Odette just leaves the room.

”Goodbye Henrietta.” Mother says.
”Goodbye my sweet child.” Father says.
”See you later, Hettie.” Jamie says.

At least someone wants to see me again.

Before I could regain the comfort I had obtained before my family’s arrival, the peacekeepers barge through the door again, helping me with the basics of walking. Dragged along the same dead hallways, I am eager to get to the next destination.

Shaking the peacekeeper’s grip, I’d grow tired of their chaperoning. ”I can walk myself you know.” A groan rolls from the white helmet and the grip on my shoulder becomes looser. Finally I can regain my own movement and walk swiftly like I am used too.

Leaving the building, my eyes are attacked by the flashes of the paparazzi; this is my time to get the ball rolling. Extending a wave to each camera, I’d give each one a different pose. I’d blow a kiss, bite my lips to some and then flick my hair to the very last before I board the train. This whole time, the blood still remains on my cheeks; maybe the Capitol can use those images to help me look dangerous.

Boarding a train, I’d flash a smile to all those on it. The escort, the victor and my partner, it’s time to get friendly with strangers. Slipping onto a seat by the window where the paparazzi stand, I’d continue my media appearance hoping for good snaps of myself.
