While some are going head to head with weapons and others making fire, which is obvioously my forte, I have settled with something a little more subtle. Something that could possilby save my life in the overnight time. Fighting and eating and making fires are one thing, but to expose yourself in the open without a shelter could be disasterous. Is the arena going to be cold? Hot? Full of sand? I need to protect myself from the elements should the need arise and especially with anyone that has decided to stay at my side.

With an empty station, I feel free to work by myself. The scattered materials just lay there, wanting - needing to be used. To create a shelter would be better done by one of my brothers though. They are the pillow fort creators, not I. However, I am the one that tried to teach them and they not only learned but surpassed my abilities.

My fingers grasp onto the tarp, shape it and immediately grab for the ropes. My mind begins to play with different techniques. On one end of the tarp, I tie around the edge and make several different loops around it. Only then do I attach it to the faux tree and tie it around the trunk. I work silently, not paying any mind to the world around me. It's just me and this tarp.

He is one of mixed emotions as he finds himself looking at the girl from District Eight from across the center, finding her current choice of station an interesting but odd one. She had found her eyes resting upon shelter creation, and he had never thought of the skill himself. Sol had been focusing on the survival aspect of the Games, where the thirst and hunger may grow too big for the tributes to handle and Sol himself along with his small party of friends would be fine. Though, he never saw an improvement with his thoughts upon the fighting aspect. No improvement on his thoughts, though there was an improvement on the thought of filling his ill-trained abilities with a weapon. He would find himself doing it at a later time, though for now he thought that helping another person, another tribute like he in an activity.

The girl, Cecelia if he remembered correctly was from District Eight. She was one year younger than Luna when she had been in the Games and was one of the only people from District Eight as the female tribute that wasn't claiming the last name of Hope. A pair of twins, one succeeding much farther than the other but that didn't matter for they had been reunited in the place tributes roam after death had claimed them. His footsteps, unaware of them led to the girl at work on some kind of thing with a tarp and two trees. A hammock? He wasn't quite sure, though Sol had no thought on it.

His focus snapped back to life as a small yell of someone in the distance as they practiced, some kind of emphasis in which they hoped to help them get better results. He was nearby her, several meters away as he watched her at work.

Stepping forward, he found the courage to speak. "May I help?"

The whole point of this is to gain knowledge to protect myself should something prevent me from exploring the land. Being sick and being injured can happen to anyone, anytime. With rest comes the ability to heal oneself. If you can't rest with a proper shelter, then what good are you? A shelter can also shield and hide you from prey. Out of sight, out of mind is what I'm going for. Building a lean to or flat shelter just might save me from some mutt that might come sniffing around. A horrible rain might try to wash me away but a hammock would keep me off the ground for a while and keep me from getting swept away in the flowing water. An endless supply of protection from this simple idea.

However, it seems that once again, I've gained the presence of another tribute. I'm not sure if this person is wanting to start a fight or give me a lecture, but I ignore their presence and keep working. Their eyes on my back burns. Their judgements of my own ability is on the line at this very moment. So, I tuck the edge of the tarp in and secure it with the rope making it a strong hold and begin to do the same to the other side.

"May I help?"

The modulated, masculine voice is set apart from all of the other tributes. I was expecting someone like Insanis to be standing behind me; waiting to insult or push me around. Though, he don't do that. He's like a tree in the wind. He waits and is patient. I turn my attention to him, looking at him with the most curious of eyes. "Help me? Umm..."

I look to the tarp, noticing how it only took a few minutes to string up one side to the fake tree, yet to deny anyone the offer of help would be ridiculous of me. Perhaps the bigger I make my circle of frienship, the harder it will be to harm me when the going gets tough. "Sure. I could always use some help... I don't know what you want to do though? It's pretty one sided." I try to explain. I crawl over to the other side of the tarp and begin to form the edge of the tarp just as I had the other one. "It's a tarp hammock. Suppose to hold your weight and keep you off the ground. Less disturbances, I guess?" With that, I fold over the edge, and begin to wrap the rope around it, making sure to secure the inside first and then wrap it next.

"Do you know any good techniques for shelter building? Care to share?"
