He felt that, even though he'd landed himself here, he was lucky.

Well, luckier than some of the others.

He had two victors giving him tips and reminding him of this, or scolding him for that. They were practically his parents, only younger versions of them.

They were there to protect him, and he appreciated it.

So, he considered himself lucky under the circumstances.

He had learned not to bother Mace after about eight o' clock: trying to get children to settle down for bed was hard enough without the new kid in the room.

He liked Noelia. She was cool, and she had been through this hell once before through her sister. But sometimes when he walked past her room, he thought he could hear her crying.

He liked her, but he hadn't ever been good at confrontation.

So he found his knuckles wrapping against Saffron Lowe's door. He needed someone to talk to, and even though he guessed Saffron probably secretly hated him over the whole... Paige ordeal, he wanted to at least try and get it all out in the open so that he didn't die before either of them could ask the questions they wanted to ask.
