First Breakfast consisted of two eggs over-hard, half a dozen links of sausage, a pile of beans, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms and peppers and some spiky green vegetable he'd never heard of before, and what could only be an entire loaf of bread toasted with butter. Still a week out from entering the Arena, Roger Strangways-Teach's stomach is still serious about the Hunger portion of the games he'd volunteered to play.

As such, he's piled a plate high with scones and waffles and crepes, drowned under a mountain of sugared fruit and buried in whipped cream. Second breakfast is in order, and there's no slowing the pirate's appetite.

A tower of muffins calls to him, guarded by the girl from... Three? Seven? Ten? Roger can't quite recall, but figures it doesn't matter much for conversation. He slides up to the baked goods and the competition that he doesn't feel much like competing with, leans in, and whispers dramatically in the girl's ear: "Careful, now — the blueberry ones are poisoned."

His mouth and eyes are smiling, but behind them Jolly Roger struggles to believe his own expression. "Or drugged, anyhow —" he shrugs "— saw that Stevie fellow do it myself. You know, District Six's poor-effort Jolly Roger knock-off?" With a self-satisfied smirk, he brushes his dark hair out of his face, tucking a loose strand behind his ear. Roger's plate of pastries wobbles in his one-handed grasp, a few syrupy peaches at the top of the stack threatening to make a break for it. The District Four recovers, catching one hunk of fruit with his left hand as it tumbles down the pile of waffles and ramps off the rim of his dish. A second chunk lands neatly in the center of his shoe.
