The pull of a needle through another torn arm of some idiot who can't keep his insides, in. I pull away at the thread as my colorless gloves shimmer crimson with the spray of the mans blood. I look down in disgust not because I am now reddened with his DNA, but because I could be spending my time in a much more useful way. I have studies to attend, remedies to discover, if only those around me could just listen to the silence, even for a moment. But no, it seems I would always be ignored.

I look at at the now stitched man, his face pulled into an unpleasant snarl, I refused to give him any pain relievers because he simply did not need them, he would be just fine. I pull of my latex gloves and run my hands under the fosset being sure to rid myself of whatever excess grime this brute of a man could of left. I look to the small clock that ticks above the patient it read 12:30, and that was my cue to leave.

At long last I could take a break from this hell and perhaps even fill my stomach. I make my way to the cafeteria where I am met with fellow colleagues and the common glare. I was used to this look, they tried to see beneath my skin, find a way to break the barrier that protects my very being, but my roots they run deep and my rivers flow far to rapid.

After a few moments of sitting alone popping a few grapes into my mouth I decide I'm bored, that I needed a sense of relief. I wonder away from my solidarity into a room I know has been beckoning my name. On the shelf I see the very pill bottle that will guide my travels. I pop the cap off of the bottle and pill out three tablets. I them crush them with the bottom of my spoon. Using the side of my pinky I align the glistening snowflakes and up the dark cavern they flutter. My eyes widen and my mouth crooks. The world could now be seen so much brighter, oh how long I've been denied, too long it has been friend.

I stumbled back into the cafeteria my sight caught on the most beautiful site a man could ever see. A bright orange dragonfly fluttering above the heads of the careless. It's iridescent wings flittering at the speed of light and its dark eyes piercing into my very soul. I've never seen a creature so beautiful. I walk toward the creature my hand outstretched wide, oh how I long for its touch. How the deep pits of black torment me every inch I move closer is another inch it moves away. I begin to stumble faster pushing chairs and people out of the way, they were all so petty so careless, how could they pass up the site of such radiance?

It was then that I had had enough, these ignorant jokes. They claim to be scholars, doctors, nurses, well I say the hell to them all, anyone who claims to be a scholar without firsthand knowledge, isn't worth their next breath of air. I stand on the table that the dragonfly is now hovering above, I outstretch my arms just wanting a single touch from the creature.

"YOU I-idiots don't you see it? It's glow, it's radiance? The way it flutters above all of you? YOUR ALL CRAZY, LUNATICS I TELL YOU, SHE ONLY WANTS YOU TO BASK IN HER GLORY, AND WHAT DO YOU DO? Ignore her like a bunch of scrambling rodents." I had noticed a few peacekeepers eyeballing me, their weapons ready to aim, and then fire. I was alone in my brilliance, I would just have to accept that there was no greatness such as I.

Writing Thoughts Says Hears

The elderly always greeted him with kind words and wisdom of the days of the old, passing their wisdom onto him like he was their own grandchild. His mother, not his real one, but his mother that adopted him, always told him how much they loved him coming in, especially the older women. A joke that always came up at dinner that made him laugh. His mother was older, but still worked as a nurse at the hospital that he always volunteered for. Medical knowledge was something he had acquired from the life he truly never remembered, only glimmers of skills come through his mind. Nothing else, not even a name to add to his last name.

As he smiles politely at the old woman that laying in the bed before him, she speaks of kind words, "You're such a sweet boy. Sarah was right about you. Teddy fits perfectly. You remind me of my husband before he passed. Such a lovely man. You'll be wise and lovely man one day Teddy." The old woman smiles softly back, before the sound of a monitor causing mayhem to unfold before him. Another old woman who had spoken through some of the terrors of her own impending doom, only to tell Teddy he's going to do great things one day. Great things that would be considered the best thing to the people around him. As much as he wanted to believe that, he couldn't.

Teddy knew he would do nice things and selflessness acts, but great would not be the word for it. The boy would rather consider the things ordinary and should not be considered great, but the norm of the world. Taking care of the people you know and not letting such horrendous things become of them. This was the greatness people saw, but he only saw it as himself doing things that should always have been done without being asked. As he feels his heart throb painfully at the sight of the old woman, he leaves as nurses run in. One of the younger one's telling him some more kind words, "You know, she was right Teddy. All of us know you'll do great things one day. Just avoid the reapings as much as possible. None of us could imagine how they would end up. We never want to see you go." A smile and shake of his head lets her know that he isn't going to be leaving anytime soon.

As he makes his way to the cafeteria for lunch, all he can do is try to think about life before his injury. Doctors tell him that he's unusual for the fact that he can't remember anything before the day he woke up in the hospital. Glimpses of times before he could remember never truly came like they were supposed to. Teddy was a medical mystery and no one would figure out why and who he was. Teddy had that gut feeling and he couldn't figure out why, but it didn't matter. Not anymore. He was living a happy life with his mother and the hospital. Being surrounded by death shows the life that he truly enjoyed seeing. Teddy was only one man in the entire place and he loved helping out.

As he sits down at a table, all he can see is another male begin making a scene in front of them all. As he stands upon the table he sits at shouting nonsense of something nonexistent beauty to the world. All Teddy can do is have his face grow red in a blush, but as he stared to the side, peacekeepers look ready to aim at the boy who stands upon the table. His thoughts tell him not to do it as the man is crazy, but deep inside something screams for him to grab the man and pull him out of the room to safety. Teddy's voice is quiet and joking in a way, "Sorry Officers. My friend here is part of the psych ward. I'll take him back there now." The peacekeepers stare, as do everyone else, when he leads the way out of the cafeteria.

Teddy wasn't one for being rude, but the guy almost started a shootout in the cafe. He lets his voice find it's way out quietly, "Dude, you almost started a gun shootout in the cafeteria. What were you thinking?" His mind pounds against his skull as he thinks of the guy in front of him and how insane he must truly be, screaming about something that clearly wasn't there for anyone to admire. Teddy just huffed out a breathe of air as he stands there before another stranger whose story will be added to Teddy's new life. Even if he truly didn't want it to be added. Teddy may have forgotten his life, but he was creating a new one.

    I notice my arm being pulled away, my body being nudged from atop the table and I feel my feet hit solid ground once more. I watch as the dazzling light around me fades, and the glorious dragonfly merges with the tile wall of the cafeteria, she was gone. I feel my eyes begin to get extremely heavy, my mouth dry, and my skin itch. These where the side affects of what I had induced into my body. Soon I would feel the agonizing pain in my nostril and the burning sensation in my lower abdomen. I felt as my body was stumbling forward, feeling as if I was balancing on a tightrope just to take my next step. Walking, talking, listening it all became a task within itself at this point, its like the world around me is spinning at such a rapid pace I can hardly see the finish line.

    I'm led out of the cafeteria by a boy who claims to be my friend, to know where I am from, but I am nearly positive I have never seen this boy. His jaw was square, his body stiff, he looked like every other dreamy tall brunette that wondered this district. An abundance of average was all I saw. "Dude, you almost started a gun shootout in the cafeteria. What were you thinking?" he says. Shootout, what shootout? I don't recall seeing a gun, perhaps he was referring to those pesky Peace Keepers. Their name is rather ironic, how they always seem to be the ones to disturb the peace.

    I place my hands against a near by wall, and lay my forehead against the shitty wall paper that riddles these halls. I close my eyes for a moment, just so that the spinning will stop. I then feel my body begin to get extremely heavy, and slowly I slide down the wall until I am on my knees facing the wall, with my hands and forehead still in contact with the gritty surface. At this point my head was pounding, all I wanted was silence, but I suppose he wasn't going to just leave me be, he wanted an answer. I turn my head from the wall now sitting flat on my ass with my back against the wall. I then raise my head ever so slightly to look up to the boy, my eyes hanging low. "Sorry". I say rather sarcastically.

    I then giggle to myself, my eyes fluttering shut again and I pull my hands behind my head, partially cause I wanted to make myself look bigger then I was and partially to see if I could get my head to stop pounding. After a few more moments the boy still seems to be present, like he had no intention of leaving me be. So out of the kindness of my heart I pat the tiles floor beside me, offering him a seat. Id hoped if I acted like a dick maybe I could shake his company, but that had failed, so why not figure out his intentions?

    I outstretch my arm in his direction, "I'm Ahrex, but you can call me Rex." I say in a more polite tone.

The wall that the guy leans on holds him up. Pain strikes through the guy's eyes. Teddy feels himself wanting to help ease the pain, but the events just moments ago rings through his mind and the anger stays across his face. The guy could have risked the lives of everyone in the hospital if he had pissed of the peacekeepers. Luckily, Teddy, the nicest guy in the world was there to save his ass. As he watches the boy creep down the fall, facing it like Teddy was going to arrest him or something weird, all he can think of is what a boy like him was doing in the hospital. There could be endless reasons why the guy was in the hospital. Psych ward like Teddy had said. Addiction help for the morphlings, if they would help him. Teddy just shakes his head, until the guy turns towards him again, voice filled with sarcasm, only igniting the flame in Teddy.

"Sorry."

Teddy knows he's not sorry. Sarcasm always meant the opposite of what a person was saying. It took everything within him to stay quiet, but he was breaking, cracking, and wanting to just yell at the guy for everything, but he couldn't. Not now. Definitely not there. He speaks calmly, hoping his words mean something to the crazy lunatic in front of him. "You don't mean it, pal." That's when he can see his eyes. The way they dilate at the place. Teddy can see the drugs within his blood. A sigh escapes from his lungs as he can tell that the guy is definitely high on some sort of drug. Teddy preferred not to know what drug it was. That's when he giggles and puts his hands behind his head. When he opens his eyes, the guy looks surprised Teddy is still even there. Teddy just rolls his eyes at the thought of him just leaving some druggie alone to his own devices in a place carrying drugs all over that could give someone a high to kill them. His voice rings out, politely now.

"I'm Ahrex, but you can call me Rex."

The guy, or well Rex had been patting the seat next to him on the floor. Teddy eyes him, but being the nice guy that he thinks he is, he sits down. Arm stretched out for Teddy to shake is what he would think, so he shakes his hand politely, but stays silent. Frustration still flows in his veins as he watches Rex. Silence overcomes him, until Teddy speaks bluntly. "I'm Teddy. Now what are you doing? I can tell you took something, Rex. I can see it clearly in your eyes." Eyebrows raise at Rex. Nothing in the world would show him the dragonfly that Rex wanted others to see, except the drugs, but Teddy would never take those. All he does is stare and wait for a reply to fall from Rex's lips. He'd wait all day if he had to.
