Don't be serious, now, he told himself, thoughts a blur. He wanted to be angry, but he laughed. When Lorenzo took the stage, he laughed, when the Capitol cut him off, he laughed harder. Don't be serious, don't be serious, don't be serious.

He thought, maybe, it would have been funny if he let himself cry.

No, he thought back, just sad.

He pushed through the doors just as soon as the peacekeepers unlocked it, looked over his shoulder and dared them to say something with a devilish grin, then walked inside. The room was trashed, and his diamond in the rough stood too quickly.

"What the fuck are you doing here?"

Hands shoving Lorenzo's chest, and Chaugrin was crying now. And laughing, and sulking. (Don't be serious. Don't be serious. Don't be serious.)

"I would have gone with you!" He said, a question more than a statement. He laughed, missing the night and Lorenzo on his breath. Eyes wide with something he had never been able to explain, he took a deep breath.

"But you played a trick on me, and now I get to stay here while you go and have all the fun!"

Anger, jealousy, pride-- all of it warring within him, he waited to see which would come out on top.
