And like that it is all over before it even had chance to begin. As a career, Cassia had seen longer battles between tributes, leaving the other worn and tired, falling to their remaining knees with exhaustion, often lying in the scarlet pools of the fight from their own wounds, and their victims, many not even gathering the strength to stumble away as the hovercraft comes to take away the body. She had seen others which had lasted seconds, a simple swing of a weapon and a tribute was dead whether it be through the eye or stabbed in the heart, the canon fire sounded as soon as the dawn broke over the arena.

This fight, was neither short enough to cause interest or close enough to have people sat on the edge of their seats. It- unlike the viewers at home, glued for the 7th Day straight to their tv screens- took a moment for Cassia to register just quite what she'd done, the whirlwind of bright colours that swirled around her, picking her off her feet and carrying her what felt like an inch above the earth that truley anchored her to this earth, blinding her to the fact that Riven Fowley was now drowning in a pool of her own blood. The girl before her began to melt as if she were made of wax. The centre of her throat started to bubble, a hot red wax began to spill down her front. Cassiopeia tilted her head to the side, eyes widening as she watched the girl bubble away painfully slowly.

"Don't leave me" her voice is a whisper.

Cassiopeia frowns hard then a part of her clicked and suddenly the trip was no longer fun anymore. Part of her must of realized that she'd killed the girl from 10 because the world plunged into darkness and it felt she was falling through nothing. The darkness engulfed her, swallowing her up before she had the chance to scream it filled her lungs too. Cassiopeia clawed at her own face in desperation. Her heart thundered against her ribcage, her body trembled as if it were about to break, crumble into a thousand tiny pieces. She watched as the girl from 10 faded from existence and left her all alone.

The sound of canon fire, one after the other, sent shivers down her spine. Blinking, Cassiopeia found herself grasping at the grass which was splattered with scarlet red and purple wax that bubbled as her javelins melted away; before her, Riven lay, staring wishfully at the distant blue ocean that hung above their heads. Tears streamed down her cheeks, salt tears stinging at the fresh wound she had inflicted on herself, as her whole body convulsed with waves of sobs that wracked through her body. When she had told Riordan to leave, she had not dreamnt that lonliness would feel like this. "Don't leave me alone," she begged "I don't want to be alone"

"Cassie" the ghost of a voice echoed across the abyss of blackness which surrounded her. Looking up, the blonde glanced around in a panic, the lull of the high taking her in its grasp. The hairs on the back of her neck prickled with fear- she had heard that voice before, she thought to herself as she tried to push herself to her feet, stumbling about and tripping over something that she could not see in the void she found herself sinking in. Her mouth suddenly felt dry, and as she exhaled, she could feel desert sand spilling from her mouth like a silent orange waterfall; she simply just watched the sand pile round her feet before melting away into the blackness.

"CASSIE!"

Her fathers voice caught her off guard, causing her to stumble with a cry forward against something- the topiary of the real world. Scattering the contents of her cleveage, her hand desperately scrambled at her crayons, sketching a new- if not lopsided- weapon on the grass beneath the topiary she had just stumbled into. Her hands shook, the edge of the high was truely falling away now- she was no longer seeing her cousin nor her father nor was she hearing his voice- something she was thanful for. Using her copper crayon, he drew a sword, long and elegant albeit a little wonky but her mind was short circuting, trying to peice together what was reality and what was not. Her eyes flittered across the drawing, licking at her dry chapped lips, blue eyes catching climpses of clumps of blonde scattered across the grass, before taking the sword by its hilt in hopes that it would make her feel safer, protect her from the monsters that hid in the darkness.

It didn't.
