Name of Mutt: Howler

Brief Summary: A Howler was an altered small monkey that could project a howl 2x louder than a wolf's. Each monkey has a different sound howl, so the owners of the monkey's (in the capitol) could hear their monkey and find it based on where the sound was projected. They spent more time altering the genes to have them howl, instead of training them to be around human beings. This lead to many people getting bitten, scratched, but luckily no cases of death were found. They scrapped the project and modified the howlers to fit into a jungle setting. They mutated their growth, making them about the size of a 12 year-old kid. They edited their gene's, making them more prone to kill. They let them keep their howling, but that lead to a weakness in the Howlers. They won't attack when the moon is out. Something in the gene's of the howling still kept traces of the house-pet gene, together it made them to not kill when the moon is out.

Name of Mutt: Cavern Boa

Brief Summary: A Cavern Boa was initially designed as a mutt. They tested the mutt in a all-out-arena simulation (part desert/water/ice/forest). They thought when editing the gene it could live anywhere, but they overlooked a aspect of it. The Boa they used as an example was a water boa. It lived in/near water. That gene was still in the mutt when they were designing it. They didn't see it, so it was left there. When it was released it went straight for the nearest water source. A waterfall. It slipped in the water, and after an hour or so, it went into a cave. It was there for quite a while. They scrapped the mutt, and moved onto others, because the Boa only came up to eat.

Name of Mutt: Wai-Kiki

Brief Summary: The Wai-Kiki are relatively adorable mutts created with by Capitol scientists to be big tropical party hits. After the 61st Games, tropical islands and parties were the hit of the Capitol. With such lucrative business in such parties scientists genetically mutated monkeys and facially reconstructed them to have large tiki heads. For a while these mutts were the hit of the parties, naturally dances and adorable cuddlers the Capitol couldn't get enough of them. However, their time faded with the popularity of tropical parties. Alas now many years later scientists have redone the genetics increasing the hostility of these little beasts as well as increasing the sharpness of their teeth and claws. Now, although they might seem cute these mutts are not to be messed with.

Name of Mutt: Kakamora
Brief Summary: Everyone in the Capitol loves a good party trick. After the 61st Games, anything tropical themed was all the rage, and Kakamora were at the height of popularity. Genetically engineered to be walking coconuts, these creatures were used to entertain and serve guests at parties. They spoke in a series of chirps, shrills, and whistles, and their faces were etched out in colorful tribal paint. They were a huge hit, until guests started to complain that they were loosing their jewelry. As it turns out, Kakamora were hoarders who had an affinity for any and all things shiny. After the Capitolites had to beat back a few knife-bearing Kakamora and return lost jewlry, it was determined that the little creatures could no longer be used for parties, and they were scrapped as mutts for the Games.

Name of Mutt: Rock Crabs
Brief Summary: These crab-like crustaceans were originally designed as a pet for children. Pet rocks seemed like a foolish idea, so a twist was put on it, and they were turned into little crabs with shells that looked like smooth, grey rocks the size of one's palm. The problem was, kids kept losing them. The crabs would be dropped, forgotten, and a few even managed to escape their small enclosures. It was quite an unpleasant discovery when complaints came in that the crabs were snapping at children's heels. Deeming the creatures unsafe, they were stored away for later use.

Name of Mutt: Mantalava
Brief Summary: It started as a bet between two scientists. Who could create a creature that could live in lava? When they first started their experiments to create a creature that could swim through lava like it was nothing but ocean water that aquatic creatures could swim through, nothing seemed to work. Both had been lost for words on how to create such a creature. The bet spread through the capitol as people expected to see the end to the bet, unfortunately for both scientists, they couldn't figure it out alone, so both had turned to the other to please the capitolites that wait to see the mutt that they created.

In the end, they created a beast that could at least walk along lava. The creatures were the size of a panther, but was more of a giant lizard with a manta ray body. Their scales are hardened at the feet allowing them to push lava aside and almost seem to be swimming in it. Their body can withstand temperatures of extreme heat from the DNA of tardigrades/water bears that was given to them. Their skin can camouflage with the lava ground from Chameleon DNA. They move slowly like a lava flow moving down an island into the ocean to cool. Typically they prefer hotter areas than anywhere else. Once they had been shown to the capitolites as a demonstration, many of the people disliked the creatures as they were too hidden to be able to come out from the lava. Not one person could see them in the lava or molten rock. Disappointed with the performance, the creatures were put away, not to be seen for years. That is, until someone came up with the idea to give them claws and sharp teeth to kill with. They were given Honey badger DNA to make them more territorial and deadly. The once more peaceful camouflaged creatures before had turned into a natural hunter.

Name of Mutt: Glittering Hermit
Brief Summary: The Glittering Hermit was an idea created by a capitolite to be used as a guard of sorts for jewels and safes. The creatures can be anywhere from the size of your palm to the size of your head. Many capitolites were grateful for the creature that was just an ordinary Hermit crab, but given a shiny black shell. They have an infatuation of shiny objects such as jewelry or anything that glitters really. Their pincers were sharp enough to take a finger off and soon enough, people realized that the infatuation for shiny objects had gone too far as the creatures attacked their owners to protect their treasures. They were recalled back to the creator and locked away to protect their precious shinies from anyone. The protectors of the glittering objects were never seen again, until someone saw promise in their design.
