I can see it in the faces of the other tributes, their resilience to the change in scenery. They wanted to stay in their districts all nice and happy, they didn't want to be ripped away from their families. I am the same way, but different. I am prepared to take on the capitol's game unlike so many others here. I can see it reflected in some dry eyes and slack expressions, I can see it in some's tears. They aren't ready.
I may not be as prepared as say, the district two careers, but I know I will be as ready as I can be by the time that it starts. So for now, I train. I hold a knife in my hand, it sits awkwardly with my inexperience. I take a slice at the dummy, barely making an abrasion. I wonder what will happen when I get into the arena. I become stoney faced and try slashing at it again and again and again, but to no avail. Might as well make my tombstone now.
