I set the knife back down on the rack,
my attempts to slice off the dummy's arm gone sour. I brush a piece of my fiery hair out of my vision in hope that my next weapon will give me more hope of actually surviving against the people surrounding me, people like the person in front of me. A career. Why people train their whole lives for the smallest chance that they will get reaped astounds me, but I guess it really does help.
Gregor McGregor, an odd sounding name for a large person who looks as though he can snap my neck with one finger. I didn't know people could have that many muscles, but here he stands just like all the other careers from district two before him.
I grin as I approach him, my hair bouncing behind me in rhythm with each footstep.
"You come here often?" I say joking, a twinkle in my eyes. It can't help but try to make friends with the people who could probably kill me by saying my name.
