A product of the Capitol, Astrid would never ascribe to the brutal fashion standards thrust upon her by her birthplace. She never wanted to be seen, really. But she wanted to be heard. It happened one day when she was out with friends, explaining the strategies and motivations of the 74th Games Bloodbath to her friends at a bar. Her face was animated, her hands moving to show the motions of the tributes as they wound their way around the Cornucopia. She could read their goals in their faces - their desires, wants, and needs from each weapon or item they picked up. As the Games progressed, Astrid could see the dissolving of alliances, the betrayals of those who had once been allies or even friends. She made her career analyzing the actions of teenagers in the Games and she was damn good at it.

The woman approached her, hearing her talk of the tributes, and dropped her card on the table without so much as a word, sauntering away. Astrid's life had changed that day. Well, that day and the day she met her coworker, the person she would be collaborating with closely for the Games - Turing Ayres. She knew he would either be her destruction or her salvation.

He was beautiful - even by Capitol standards. He had witchcraft in his lips and his mind worked faster than lightspeed. Somedays she wished thoughts of him would find their exit to her mind. Other days, she craved his presence. Their relationship has blossomed quickly and descended into chaos just as fast. It seemed the one variable that he could not account for was her.

Numbers made sense in his mind, but Astrid was not some number that he could quantify and place in a nice column. Try as she might, she could never break into his thoughts the same way that he invaded hers. Their interactions stayed the same for the public and for their work, but behind the scenes, the girl was in agony.

"Everything carries me to you, as if everything that exists, aromas, lights, metals, where little boats that sail toward those isles of yours that wait for me."
