Three cannons echoed through the sky, and one of them belongs to someone I may have cared for. I didn't know C'rizz on a personal level, but I needed him. I needed him to help keep me alive. Eva's still here though despite being heavily damaged. Maybe she can survive another day. Just long enough for more people to die. For more people to face the ultimate price. I want to make it home, and if I can go further with her, then it'll all be worth it. But it's not the same. Her company doesn't do much especially in the bitter cold slowly cutting through my skin.

I keep the grip on my knife tight as I relax against the ice cold ground. My bones ache, and every part of my body is shivering despite having a sweater and goggles. Starting a fire and resting next to it sounds like a good plan, but it's also a fatal one because I don't want to give away my location. I help patch Eva up, but it's not enough, and it'll never be enough because the damage is already there. They tried killing her just like they killed C'rizz. They'll pay for it. I'll make sure they pay.

I watch the anthem, and I see the faces through the sky. Seventeen of us remain only sixteen more need to die in order for me to make it home to the life I want to live. I can finally have friends. I can finally settle down and live that normal life. No more training. No more fighting. No more trying to please my parents because I already have what I want to have. I only feel bad when I see C'rizz's face though, but even then I know he had to die in order for me to make it out of this alive.

Somehow I manage to drift off to sleep, but I don't sleep well because I continue waking up freezing, and I want to make sure Eva is okay. I want to make sure she's alive. The thought of killing her while she's sleeping does cross my mind, but I'm not that much of a coward. I saw her fight, and I want to fight by her side. Together we can accomplish great things. But when the morning comes, it's so much colder out, and snow covers the ground. My teeth are chattering loudly, and I'm shivering. I don't know what to do to stay warm, but I know moving on will help keep me warm.

I walk for what feels like forever, but then I notice I'm back at the cornucopia, and Eva isn't around. I don't see her, but I can hear something dragging itself across the ground. I can hear the groaning and the moaning. It's nothing like I've ever heard before, but soon the creature, no, human - that's not a human. Whatever it is comes into view, and I can see what it is. It looks like it's been under the ground for a really long time. Rotten flesh. Rotten teeth. Rotten everything, but it's holding a weapon and it's coming towards me. I take a deep breath readying my knife, and I get a view at what I can see. It looks like the district eleven male Snow used to make an example of district eleven when hope becomes real. Hopefully this kid is ready to die again.

There was a long moment of nothing, then Iain felt...something. Like when you first recollect that you are a living person and have the ability to remember- Iain felt that as he wandered, no, dragged himself through the snow lost and confused. He could not remember what came before, only that there had been a before and the before had ended quite badly and everytime that he thought he was onto something, remembering...his mind would wonder onto more pressing matters.

Like the temptation of human flesh.

Iain had wandered the snowy fields for quite some time searching for this temptation when he came across a boy. A boy with flesh. He was hungry for it though not quite because his stomach did not growl or rumble like a humans did because he was dead. Ah, yes he remembered now he was dead. Though how he had come to die...he could not quite remember but he quite liked that word.

"Die....." he mumbled, grumbled and groaned almost thoughtfully (as thoughtfully a dead boy could) as he stumbled towards his prey.

I don't know what this thing is, or why it's even here. They should've left the deceased dead instead of bringing him back. I can't imagine how his family is feeling knowing that the Capitol is using someone they love and care for. I've never lost anyone in my family, so I don't know how it feels. I hope I never have to know how it feels. I tighten my grip on my knife trying to stay out of the creatures way. I don't remember this guy's name, and frankly I don't care because he's trying to kill me. All I know is he's related to Kirito somehow. I remember the lesson district eleven was taught twice in a row for bringing home three victors back to back to back. I remember the accusations of the reaping being rigged. I remember laughing, but I respect the dead. I respect those that have perished because they have the freedom I'm looking for when I make it out of here alive.

A heavy sigh finds its way past my teeth, and I find myself looking into the dead eyes of this kid. I watch how he drags himself around. I listen to the groans and moans. I listen as it draws in breaths. It's dead, but it's still breathing. Maybe it's my own breaths I'm hearing because I've never seen anything like this. Not to mention I'm freezing, and I don't know where Eva ran off to. I don't know where she is or if she's okay. I wonder if she's facing the undead too. But I can't focus on her or anyone else for that matter. I have to look at the bigger picture. This thing will kill me if I don't kill it, and this isn't how I want to die. I don't want to die anyway, but this would just be embarrassing. I've trained too long and hard to go out this way. I loosen my grip for only a second, and it allows him to draw closer and closer, and I feel my heart pounding inside my chest. I can hear it echoing through my mind. Part of me feels bad, but I can't care. I won't care.

My hands are shaking, and I feel like my fingers are about to fall off. They're red and they burn. My face feels like it's on fire. I always thought freezing to death wouldn't be this bad. I always thought it was easier, but it's definitely not. It's painful. It hurts. My lungs are burning, and I try to focus on the task at hand. Someone may think I'm afraid, and maybe that's what I want them to think. Maybe that's the plan. Maybe that's all I need. But I don't care because I'm not afraid. I look at the kid again trying to remind myself that it's just a mutt created to destroy. It's just another creature that has no heart or soul. It's a shell of what once existed. I take a step back, and I ready my knife. I hope it can Rest In Peace finally because that's something everyone deserves. My mind races as I lunge forward hoping that it'll die. My torso armor is all but destroyed. This abomination will kill me if I allow it to continue its attack.

Iain felt the boys weapon make contact with him but he didn't feel pain. He didn't have a concept of pain- he no longer had a concept of much in all honesty. The only concept he understood was the hunger he felt for the boys flesh and the boy smelt good. He watched the boys blood bounce on the snow and Iain licked his lips.

The boy looked sad. Iain watched him for a long moment, groaning to himself. Sadness wasn't something Iain understood but he did understand lonely. Lonely, that was a new word and he liked that one too.

"Dieee" he groaned, quite not being able to say anything but as he lunged again.

For this thing being undead, I'm not doing very much damage to it. This thing, this creature is more than capable of killing me if I don't kill it soon. It's nothing compared to anything I've seen before, but it's not every day that the I get to walk through the arena as a tribute either. Speaking of the dead, I keep listening for cannons because I'm looking for Eva. I have to know she's oaky. I don't know where she went when I lost her earlier. I guess I just have to kill this thing before I can move on. This mutt. This abomination. It's terrible that the Capitol would do anything like this, yet I can't put anything past them since they enjoying allowing kids to kill other kids for a living.

A heavy sigh leaves my chapped lips as I remember the name of this kid. I remember how hard he fought, but it wasn't good enough because he's dead obviously. I blink a couple times trying to push the thoughts away, and somehow I manage to block his next attack. I can hear the spear clashing against my own blade. Maybe it's the shovel. Maybe it's just my own skill since I've been training for this. Maybe I just got lucky. Maybe that's all this is. That I'm somehow alive based on luck. I don't know anymore. Being alone sucks. I hate it because I have nobody to talk to. Nobody to fight beside.

I grip the knife tighter as I look at the creature. Iain Miristioma. A young boy. While Kirito did well, Iain failed, and I don't want to end up like him. I take a deep breath as I move towards the mutt once more. I'm ready to attack. Ready to kill. Ready to get out of here and find Eva once more, but I'm worrying whether or not we'll turn into one of these things when we die. Not that I plan on dying anyway. Speed is on my side, and I'll do whatever it takes to make sure I survive because I'm more than capable of bringing the honor back to district two.

Iain was beginning to grow hungrier and hungrier as the boys blood bounced against the snow, turning it a soft gentle pink. He had not felt hunger like this before- he had not felt much in this new life of his and so he guessed he just had always felt this hunger.

The dead boy rolled his head to the side, watching the blonde as he blindly attacked. Something about this seemed very familiar but Iain could not remember what- then he remembered again that he had died. "Diieeed" he groaned, stumbling forward to attack again.

For a moment I wonder what kind of person I look like to those viewing the game right now. Here I am, a career, and I can't even destroy this mutt, but I'm not letting it get the best of me yet. It isn't the time because it's still alive well as alive as it can be. Watching how he drags himself around. Listening to the groaning and moaning. I wonder if it even needs air to live. Iain was once a human, like me, and now he's nothing more than a laughing joke. I'll never understand it. Even through all my training in the training center back in district two, I would never do anything like this to anyone. It's rude and disrespectful. The least they can do is respect the families, but I guess even the gamemakers don't care about that.

I brace for the impact. Preparing myself for the pain that I've felt over and over. Sometimes I think I'm immune, however, the first blow only pushes me further away from that thinking. My eyes dart down the torso armor barely hanging on. It took the damage the thing did to me. It saved me from becoming skewered by the pole it holds in it's rotten hand. I don't know how much longer it'll last, but that's okay because it's done what it's needed to do. I'll just keep myself together. I'll figure out a way to slaughter this thing that's trying to kill me. Once a little boy, he's no longer that same person. I doubt he even has a brain.

Taking a few steps back, my eyes lock on the eyes of the prey. I'm the predator in this moment. I'm the one that's going to win. I'm the one that will survive it all. I just want out of the cold. I want something warm. A fire. Something to keep my toes from falling off. I can imagine myself living in a house where I never have to worry about any of this ever again. So far so good. So far I've done well. I just have to keep doing what I'm doing. But first, I need to knock this stupid creation out of my way, and the only way to do that is to do what I've trained my entire life for. Hopefully, nobody will see me as a fool anymore.

Why wouldn't the boy die? This was something Iain didn't understand. No matter how many times did he have to poke the boy before he yeild?
