There are days when Nascent's world continues to spin on its broken axis and she chooses not to seek out what broke it in the first place.

On those days, career training seems to swim before her eyes in a haze that leaves her heavy behind the veil of silence she's stitched tight across her lips. No one questions her quiet anymore, not when she slams herself full-force into Confluence's much more imposing frame without the doubt of her own ability to grapple him down. Not even her mother, or brothers, or sisters try to draw the words from her mouth any longer. But though she crosses thresholds unannounced and keeps her eyes to the earth as she passes soundlessly through life, she cannot help the way her mind unravels with questions and mysteries unbidden and draws her gaze inevitably outward, upward, onward.

What lies beyond the foot-worn paths that calamity paved to breathe reticence into a world that has long since wandered astray?

She doesn't know, and it aches too prominently to pass off as the result of too little sleep. No, it is a restless need, a hiraethian hunger that draws her to center time and again though she knows not where center is as of yet, though she's unsure she'll ever find it. Never has she come close, but she searches as countless others tumble past, unaware and unbound by greater purpose.

Beyond. Someday, that which cannot be known will be known and Nascent will have peace.
