    There was a day when waves of wonder became turbulent with the terrors of treason. There was a day when the crust of Earth's creation cracked leaking chaos from the crevice. A home once littered in light and sullied in sand was drowned in dark depths with a set of two lives bound to its fall. On the call of Ripred's command, hell heaved from the heavens and the ocean devoured District Four. Yet from the cruel command a silent savoir emerged from the shadows, and never again have I seen the shores of the sea. Now I live in a world with waves of golden grains.  

    Life in Eleven seems simple. Pops works out in the fields tirelessly like most of those in our District. The scent of his sweat stained skin sends both my brother and I spinning each night after he returns home. While he works I keep to the same schedule, school and then church. Many seem silent towards the belief in Ripred due to all the hardships handed to them in this world, but mine have only made my faith flourish(a word Pops just taught me). I believe Ripred has a plan, a reasoning for why things happen. Why District Four was destroyed by the ocean. Why my brother and I were rescued. Why Uncle Kirito won the Hunger Games. I have to believe in Ripred's reasoning and a life after this life, or else what am I, what are we, other than flesh, bones, and blood?
