The neatly folded paper has a message written in black ink upon it. The handwriting looks rushed, as if the person sending the message was afraid that taking too much time to write the note would put them in danger.
Fiona,
I truly hope that neither you nor Carmen were the cause of the cannon sound I heard tonight. It's my fault that Faux's gone, and I don't want to lose you guys, too. I left you both because I was afraid of what other devastation I'd bring if I stuck around. I can't let myself be guilty for anyone else that I care about getting killed. It wouldn't be right.
Please, keep on fighting, and don't be afraid to do what you have to in order to protect Carmen and yourself.
I hope it never comes down to the three of us.
