I woke up to dawn's azure glow, quietly so that I don't awaken the sleeping boy next to me. Winter dawns like these used to be cold, all frost and intricate patterns handcrafted by the ice on the windows;
heat was a luxury most of us could not afford.
We had to clench our frozen teeth, huddle up, and endure the cruel frostbite on our fingertips. Let it freeze over the skin, because it's the way things work around here.
But, within the bare entanglement of mine and Miles's bodies, limbs and breaths – sparks a soft warmth that manages to keep the cold at bay.
Inside the inferno of our passion, lies eternal heat.
His features appear air-brushed under the cool shadows and warm sunbeams and I cannot help but reach out to trace sigils upon it, let its softness kiss the pads of my thumb.
He stirs, and I flash a row of pearly whites into the dark, feeling my heartbeat quicken.
“Good morning, jerk.”
