There is no District Eight victor to present before this year’s elections, just the tributes that came home with beating hearts instead of in a casket. For Pierre it is better than nothing, even despite the talk of if they could save those tributes than why did they not save the others? It really has done something to the morale in the District and he is just pleased that Snow chose District Eight for his event to distract the overthinking mind of his citizens.

Pierre is required to show his face around the market, even dip his fingers in his wallet at the stalls and exchange goods of his own. A model citizen he must present himself to be.

The mayor was unable to give his mandatory District tour during the current victor’s tour, but she is here again with all the tributes that followed her from the arena. The Capitol officials guide Pierre to Anatalia in the market place, introductions are exchanged and Pierre is left alone with the victor but of course eyes will be on the pair. ”Welcome back to District Eight. I hope you are enjoying your stay. I think it is about time I take you on that District tour.”

Annie hadn’t taken in the sights of the district because all she saw in them were the tributes that perished in the games. Of course, this wasn’t the case, as each one of them came home to their respective district, something that Annie hadn’t even been expecting. She might have been the sole victor of the games, but really all the tributes won. Annie on the other hand felt like she lost the games, because the rest of them did not have to sell their soul to the capitol. A fate that Annie almost found worse than death, but seeing as her first games as a victor hadn’t started, she had a little buffer to feel at ease. Though she knew that it wouldn’t last long.

Sable Delamore and Oliver Wren were tributes that she barely knew. She remembered that both of them were taken out of the games early, one of them by her own volition, a moment she didn’t regret because it was either her or Hellion, and Annie would have chosen Hellion any day of the week that ended in y. Remorse did not live in her, but she did wish she got a chance to at least talk to her. Annie tried hard to cultivate many relationships out of the games, mainly with the tributes that went through hell with her, but it seemed like most of them had disappeared. Reclusiveness was nothing that Annie could bat at eyelash at. She would just have to understand.

Then the district mayor had walked up to her while she was admiring the city market. Clothing booths everywhere in sight. He smiled and offered her the generic greeting that she received so many times from the mayors of these districts. ”It’s a start. Nothing like four, but please, show me the hidden gems of the place you call home.” Annie sounded a little to formal, but that was because she knew eyes were on her. Hopefully the mayor would be able to ease her out of the pressure she was feeling.

The sun was on her shoulders, obliterating her into nothing but soot and stardust.
