There was nothing in Panem as entirely opposite to Jelani Janga as Helen Thieves. Her build wouldn’t support a ten pound increase, yet she was the prime example of pristine health and athletic achievement. The crown princess of the Careers, her very frame mocked the fuckup of a physical examination conducted just the day before.
Which led her straight to the training center, at what she considered first thing in the morning and Helen considered her second break for the day. Red heels raised Jelani high, but as she tightened the gap between herself and her prey too easily spotted by her glowing gladiatorial status and halo of light around her pretty, perfect head she saw the champion still stood above her. She stretched her fingers out, protecting her nails from almost inevitable clenched fists, and cocked her head as she approached further.
An enormous, plastic smile sprouted from her mouth. Her teeth bore into their counterparts, so hard she thought she heard a crack, and she extended a heavily ringed hand to tap the literal goddess’s shoulder. “Miss Thieves, might I interest you in a delightfully healthy, vegan, protein shake? Might I also interest you in this somewhere less crowded?”

Helen took a moment to stretch out her joints to remain limber. She had been here for a couple hours already, but she knew that didnt mean anything to all the careers here. Most of them spent at least eight hours, sometimes more when they were getting ready for a reaping. They had to be in tip top shape after all.
Helen was no different, coming off her win from the district two tournament. The cuts along her body did burn a bit when she thought about it, but for the most part she felt better than ever.
She looked down at the others that were training and thought about who she might join. Helen never got cocky about her win, because she knew taht she just got lucky in that last fight. She was just going to have to accept the fact that she needed to go into the real games to prove that she was the best person to represent District Two. However, before she could walk down the steps, she was cornered by a woman that she slightly recognized.
Her eyes fell straight to the drink, to which she offered to her, "No thanks, I like meat." Helen said, a small laugh erupting from her chest and out of her mouth. "But yes, we can go somewhere a little less crowded, just as long as it doesnt run into my training time." She flipped her hair back, realizing that she could take a bit of a longer break today, because no matter what, she was going to spend more hours than she needed too here. "And you are? I didnt get your name." She pronounced, the words falling off her tongue as she pulled her towel around her neck and waited patiently for the woman to lead the way.
Okay, first of all, Jelani ate meat, too, thank you. She’d had two sausage burritos with quail eggs for breakfast, and she had beef jerky on her way over. She was just trying to be politically correct or socially aware or whatever the youth preached day in and day out as if they gave two shits about anything besides themselves and their own vanity.
Secondly, it was soon-to-be treasonous to not recognize power upon sight. Harriet Robber needed to check herself right away before she was checked the fuck out faster than someone who walked in and released a swarm of bees, then ducked and locked the doors from the outside.
She could handle any age group outside of 16-20. 16-20 did her in.
“I’m Jelani Janga, and I’m basically your mayor.” She paused, and swallowed, before starting the next sentence. She was one gulp away from a fistful of hair. “I want to team up with you. Public relations, advertisement, ….immunity.”

Helen could feel the tension in the air, and for once, she felt like she might have met a match to her own personality. Helen loved people that thought and acted similar to her. Call Helen crazy, but she could tell that the woman might have been a visionary.
However, the tone that followed as she introduced herself told Helen a completely different story. Helen wasnt the type to try to get under people's skin, but she could tell that she might have possibly done so. "Its very nice to meet you Jelani." Helen smiled at her, the towel being pulled against her neck by her own two hands. "An endorsement deal you say?" Helen's interest was piqued, but probably a little too late. "Go on, you got my attention." Helen added, not sure if that was egging on the tension a little more.
"Wanna grab a snack while we chat more?" Helen asked, pointing towards the way that Jelani had come from. Helen wasnt sure what she was trying to get at, but she always thought a bit more clearer with food in her stomach. She had a feeling Jelani did too.
