The second they rounded the corner and saw the first glimpse of natural light, Elite stopped dead in his tracks. Had it always been so bright? So soft? He looked to Eos for confirmation, but she seemed lost in her own thoughts. They stepped to the edge of the airlock, Elite sticking close to the walls. He found the control panel for the bridge, chewed on his lower lip.

“I don’t love this.” The humming of the bridge filled his ears, coated his thoughts. “But maybe the dodgy bridge would have scared off other tributes?”

A shiver went down his spine. He doubted it was on account of the snowfall. “Always forward, right?” He asked, more to reassure himself than to instill confidence in his ally. She was always confident.
