She met the shadowy upper level contacts on a bridge. It was one of the few last standing in this part of the world, spanning a wide river. Without it, both the rebels and the central government would suffer. She walked across it before the allotted meeting time, admiring the soft waves, the swift boats, the working sewage system. This was as much a city as she'd seen in many years.

The rebellion luminaries walked towards her, clad in black and straight faced.

"There's yellow in the sunrise," one said.

Scorpion smirked. "'Bout the color of piss, wouldn't you say?"

They all laughed, the spy and the men who held her fate in their palms.

She turned to the water, spoke to the current and the spawning fish. "they'll target the medical supply lines next."

"You're sure?"

She nodded, gasped. "Did you see that? The fish leapt right out of the water."

They didn't see.

They never did.

"That's all?"

"That's all?" She echoed. "Isn't that enough?" She asked over her shoulder, almost turning.

One of the rebels put his hand on her and pushed her back into formation. "It could be worse."

"You're going to stop them though, right?" Something cold coiled in her belly. No medicine? That was worse than no steel, no firewood, no plastic. That was... dangerous.

When she turned around, they were gone - shadows of shadows.

A cold wind picked up.

She leaned over the edge of the bridge and vomited.
