shit that happened to me in 2020 (oh wow this is gonna be a long list huh):
- me, circa late february: “man, all the news talks about lately is this virus. I can’t wait for the news to be about something else, this is becoming pretty old”
- Whatever happened before February idk I’ve lost that time in my brain
- Moving out of my old apartment. That place had horrible lighting, but damn, it was a good home for awhile. Also, I miss the fireplace.
- Moving in with my sister and her (now-ex) bf. It was so uncomfortable. He hated Egg. Also, he was rude. Also, my sister was rude. I felt totally in the way.
- March 6-18 was like a pandemic liminal space.
- Started working from home. Very cool. Got to roll out of bed right before work and wear my pj’s. Thought this would be temporary. My boss was like “this may even extend until June...”
- My boss ensuring us that nobody would lose their jobs.
- Going on partial unemployment because I was forced to go to part time because of the pandemic. Worked less, made more money for a few weeks, it was chill.
- Going full time again (and all of my coworkers being fired, becoming the sole survivor(tm) of the office.)
- Seriously, I miss having coworkers.
- My sister took the pandemic seriously for two (2) weeks, then kept going places like the gym, shopping, out to lunch with friends, etc. Meanwhile I stayed home and just sort of ?????? didn’t do much.
- Fucking bless Animal Crossing, TMA, and my obsession with books for getting me through a couple of months.
- My little sister and her boyfriend kept fighting. Eventually, they broke up. Which was awkward, because he lived here. He moved out and suddenly I had to pay more money in rent.
- My sister started dating an old (awful) boyfriend, and he kept hanging out in the house and bringing his dog who attacked Egg several times :(
- This caused a lot of stress because she wanted to have him over all the time, but I didn’t trust him OR his dog. Eventually my sister just started staying over at his place 24/7 and she finally stopped bringing the mean dog over. BLESS.
- No, but seriously, she got super mad that she couldn’t have him and the dog over. Fights ensued. I said I was going to move out, but then my parents forbade me. So I was stuck here :(
- ????????? more liminal space
- SURPRISE. My little sister announced that she was pregnant and getting married in a couple months. We would have to get rid of the lease, and I would be able to move out after all, right??
- Wrong! I’m forced to stay and keep paying rent.
- My sister announced that her wedding would have 65 guests. I stressed about whether or not to go, then decided it was stupid, and told her I wouldn’t.
- moooore liminal space. Like the “free space” card of a BINGO board, except time is passing.
- A day before my sister’s wedding, my mom had a stroke. Couldn’t visit mom because of COVID restrictions.
- Despite the raging pandemic, my sister got married anyway and my mom had to miss it.
- The week of Christmas, I had my only break from work for the entire year. I thought I would have to spend it moving, because my sister found a potential renter who wanted us to be moved out on Christmas Eve.
- Spent Christmas alone, because of the pandemic.
- My sister officially listed the house, so now realtors are coming in and out without warning to give tours.
- Am moving out on the 1st of 2021 because OH MY GOD THIS SITUATION HAS SUCKED SO BADLY. I’M OUT. BYE.
- (but I still have to keep paying rent until we find someone to live here)
- Presumably something else could happen within the next couple of days.
