「HOW YOU SEE THIS CHARACTER」sometimes, he is envious of his statues.「HEADCANONS」
he pictures a living in their states, encased in stone and glorified on ivory plinths or made out of newspaper and splattered with all the colors he can respectfully borrow from grady’s room. he pictures how serene it would be, to simply exist.
but maverick had never known the taste of serenity, or of a simple existence. the only peace he lets himself have are the times during the crack of dawn when he’d lean over his windowsill, lips around a freshly-rolled clove, and look at nothing in particular, maybe the birds over the rising sun, maybe stella caught in one of her dances. aside from that, maverick poole has always been intense. it was in his blood, this unbridled intensity, this raw passion, a fire he couldn’t quell. he swung through emotions like a grand chandelier. he felt things tenfold. maverick poole was cursed with a dreadful empathy. maverick poole was cursed with a sponge heart.
and, most importantly, maverick poole was a hypocrite.
because he found the entire party frankie put together distasteful, vile, a petty affair, but he let it happen. he put on his wine faux-fur coat and his fancy boots and went. he watched idly as the pieces came together for scarlet as to what the party was: a shame fest.
but he let it happen, anyways.
and the guilt eats at him every single night. it devours him whole. he runs away and it hounds after him. he forgets it with bracing liquor and it comes back at the stroke of midnight when he’s on his knees, throwing up into a toilet. the only time it truly ever leaves him alone is when his hands are sketching down a sculpture, or creating a base for one.
and these two sculptures he is working on in secret—
they have the armatures of a dead girl and a dead boy.1. maverick always has a tiny scalpel and a miniature figure on his person, usually in progress of being crafted, all the time. he works on it as a way to soothe his own anxieties and if he begins to feel too much. these sculptures are usually whimsical, such as bird-heads with human bodies, tigers that have three tails, three-headed snakes poised to kill.「DO YOU CONSENT TO THE POSSIBILITY OF YOUR CHARACTER'S DEATH?」uh, maybe so.gif (yes)
2. the two main sculpture in the works are scarlet’s and frankie’s. he wishes to sort of immortalize them in stone and hopes his guilt will leave him when these pieces finish.
3. maverick is drawn to sex and other violent delights. and of course he knows most would have violent ends, but how he could resist when they help him forget letting that happen to her? when they help him forget the feel of his lips on his own the night before he was murdered?
4. a proper backstory must be unlocked at friendship level 50 with a scorpio for the sake of mystique.
i am kidding. or am i?
he came from a family of business-oriented, practical people and has an estranged relationship with them as he chose to purse the arts. he still goes home for summer, but doesn’t talk much with his parents. the statues that he keeps around his bed are his mother’s and father’s.
5. maverick is good at keeping secrets. he knows its scent, and wears it like a perfume. what he isn’t good at, is not letting the weight of him eat away at him. he hides others’ secrets like bruises and tries his best to ignore how severely some of them aches.
6. he has undiagnosed cyclothymia.

8. fashion icon. dark boots and faux fur coats. shiny jackets and star-shaped glasses. nails colored black with grady’s paint. flowy skirts he ‘borrow’ from cleo. hair is probably ruined from bleach. klaus hargreeves dancing in umbrella academy. jules vaughn from euphoria. he doesn’t dress to impress or draw others though, but simply for his own amusement and pleasure.
