And as much as she wondered what life was like outside the gates of the trailer park, what a life living in the luxuries of District Four was like, she knew she was destined to live there for the rest of her life. After all, she talked a little funnier than her peers, she wasn't really all that smart, and who would take after her little sisters if she was gone? The couches were permanently indented with the frame of her mom's body from all the nights she was too drunk she couldn't make it to bed, and her father made a periodic appearance every few months or so just to remind them that he was still alive and then disappear like her was never there.
But that was life, and Olga had accepted the fate she was given. The life of nicotine addiction at seventeen years old, scraping the mold off the top of the expired yogurt so that she wasn't wasting food, and the four walls of the room she shared with her four younger sisters. It wasn't much, but she saw how poverty struck District Four and she quickly learned how to appreciate the things she had.
