his parents had never really been in the picture, or really, present in the picture. they gave him a home to live in, but they were always out and about trying to make sure they could survive until the next day. cory had never really understood why they put themselves through that much turmoil.

you see, he had a pension to root through everything that he could while they werent home. at a young age, he had found stashes of goods and money that probably could have placed them in the upper class of the district, however, his parents decided to live a simple life.

when he got older, he started to understand exactly why they did this. they made sure he understood that the more worked, the less people assumed things about them. around the district, his parents were known as the annoying moochers that would just take what they could from people when they least expected it.

cory on the other hand always been the quiet type. he always had to apologize for his parents behavior, and while he never resented them, he did wish they had a little more tact when it came to others feelings.

his silence had proven useful when he had finally picked up his profession. he had a family friend that told him about an apprenticeship that could get him away from his parents long enough. somewhat dangerous, but paid enough for him to leave.
