hold on, let me overthink this {bog boys, day 4}

The beast comes down and my sword sinks into its stomach. I push up harder and twist. The beast howls in pain and I drag the sword up the length of its underside until my katana hits bone. I rip my blade from its flesh, rolling to the side to avoid its body as it crash's to the ground. It whines as its unnatural blood pools beneath its broken body. I push myself to my feet, hand protectively wrapped around my stomach. Tit for tat. It got what it deserves.

Its whines still fill the air when I turn my back on it, stumbling towards Karl. "Are you okay?" I groan as I lean back against the mountains side. My eyes fall to the awkward position he held his shoulder. "We need to fix that shoulder." I had reset enough shoulder in the past, I knew what I was doing, mostly. Pushing from the wall allow my sword to fall to the ground. My hand still clutched my abdomen, my fingers sticky and warm from the blood that leaked through flesh that had been ripped open and crushed.

I had had it pretty easy over the last couple days. The worst I had had to deal with was a piece of fucking bamboo that had taunted me. Whacking me on the ass, and slapping me across the face.

How the tables had turned.

My nose was broken. My stomach was a mess. And I was pretty sure at least half of my rips were broken. I'd be lucky if none of them had punctured my lung. I guess we'll find that out later.

The familiar mechanical beep of a silver parachute buzzes through the air and I watch as a rather large package falls to the ground. Standing up straight I wipe blood soaked hands on the cleanest part of my pants, I move towards the package. The movement had my stomach screaming and I grit my teeth, breathing through the pain. Inside is a tarp, rope and metal pegs. Everything we needed to build a shelter, protection from the storm that would no doubt greet us with the falling sun, from the elements, from the curious eyes of any lurkers looking for easy prey.

"First: your shoulder, then the tent." I turn to study his shoulder, my hands shaking ever so slightly. "I've done it before," I wasn't sure if I was any good at it, the dead don't complain.

The whines behind me had finally ceased and I flick my gaze over my shoulder to see the beasts lifeless form, the electricity that had buzzed around it was gone and it was nothing but another corpse.
