[post 1 | intro]
you are standing in the bathroom looking at yourself intently the night before the bloodbath is supposed to begin. there is a calm demeanor on your face, more calm then you thought you should be. there is a chance you could die in there, but that doesnt scare you. nothing really does. that is why you never got along with your family, because none of them could use the fear of failure to lure you into a false sense of security.
they couldnt use fear against you, and you walked into the games knowing that no one here could do the same thing. it was something that you could use as leverage. no one could get the upper hand on you, or at least make you think they could scare you. you scared yourself enough. your family tried already. it was a mute point.
you splashed water in your face, and then realized that you hadnt spent a full night in the bed that you had been provided. it had been late, and you had a feeling that perry had been up late trying to figure out what their gameplan was. you thought maybe you could have joined them for a light conversation, but you didnt. the bed was calling you, and getting a good nights rest was going to revitalize you. you knew that. they always preached that at the agency. take care of yourself. treat yourself with respect.
you peeled off the training uniform and slinked your way into the bed, the soft sheets were definitely a luxury.
and you let yourself experience them.
when you woke up, you rose and put on the clothes that had been left out by what you assumed were one of the avoxes. they seemed like simple outfits, which made sense, because you were about to head to the arena in a couple hours, which meant that you were going to be stripped down and put into a uniform that had to do with the climate you needed to learn.
it was daunting, but the challenge?
youd accept that.
you ate a hearty breakfast, even though the escort seemed to advise that. you knew that keeping your energy up and filling up on protein rich items would only make it easier for your to focus when you were trying to make it through the bloodbath. long gone were the days were there was a real career pack, now a days the careers had split up and fended for themselves. you did the same thing, but you were made about it. you trusted your alliance. xaa, will, and thomas all had a lot to offer, and they would be the ones to get you where you needed to be.
home.
perry and you share a small moment, but you can barely remember it as you are escorted onto the hovercraft. the engines screeched as they buckled you in and injected you with a long needle in your arm. you could feel the small piece of metal travel up, but you didnt wince.
you couldnt let them see you sweat.
it was only minutes that you were already being walked through a basement in some trash hole in the wall of the capitol. they could have at least made it somewhere a little more organized, as you felt you had run into too many tributes as you tried to get to the room that you were supposed to go in. you simply shook your head as your escort had opened the door for you and told you to slip in.
you did, but a part of you was ready to start acting a little rebellious. right when you were about to say something, you saw far more clothes than you were expecting. mostly dresses and long flowing clothes. what surprised you even more was that your stylist told you that you could pick whichever one you wanted. you decided on one of the longer dresses, with full intention of slicing off the bottom half of the dress for practical purposes. you knew you could have went with the bodice pieces, but there was something regal about the dresses that was calling your name.
you wanted to make a statement.
you didnt mince too many words with your stylist, mostly because this was the last thing they were responsible for. now everything was up to you. you gave them a hug at the very least, because they did do their job. they sold a story of your, and that was all you could have asked for.
you walked forward into the glass tube and it closed right behind you.
its quite humid, even from the bottom of the tube you could tell. as you were raised up, you could see the condensation forming on the glass. the moment you had fully risen into the arena, you took note of what was in front of you. the cornucopia was breathtaking, but you could already feel the pressure of whatever was exerting itself unto you.
you did your best to lock eyes with the people that you shared a connection with. the timer had already started, and the only thing that you could think about is how you knew that your father was watching this intently. you knew that he wanted to be right, he wanted to make sure that you were going to fail at this. he wanted to be justified in not liking you as a child. that your brothers were far superior.
you shook your head and furrowed your brow. you would show him everything you had learned and more.
you were a deadly weapon after all.
the time is close to the final seconds, and the only other thing you could think about is liv, and how she was probably still in the infirmary because of the knife you had stuck in her back. you think about the kiss and you wished you could have just let it last a little longer. ten seconds to be exact.
but as the timer hits zero and you hear the gong go off. you jump off the pedestal and into the fray.
fury and all.
