It doesn't take long for to start breaking shit again.
This is what happens when you leave him on his own. He kicks over the weapons rack and slams his fist against the lockers. He sweeps his arm out and watches all the plants laid out on the long tables go flying.
He tripped Mateo into that weapon rack. He shoved him against that table where he landed on those plants, and then Roe cuffed the dirt out of his hair.
Sometimes grief manifests as a rot. There's an festered sort of infection that's settled into the tissue of the left lung; Roe chases it, turning in on himself, frantic in the same way a dog is while they chew at their own stitches.
Out.
It doesn't matter how, just get it out.
That injection's almost certainly made him more jumpy. If he'd taken the time to read the warning pamphlet, then he'd know about the adrenaline and the jitters and the way that it's perfectly normal for him to not be able to keep still. He'd also know, if he had stopped and thought for longer than a second, that there'll be no way he's sleeping tonight.
He hits one of the lockers again and feels the metal dent.
