after the fall, pt. 2 ✘ gunner &. inga, day 1

Inga immediately goes from dazed to scowling.

As Gunner's annoying face swims above her, she can only think of one thing, one ridiculously unfair, ridiculously typical thing -

"They gave you a gun?"

She burns a little, demanding. She lost that stupid stick somewhere in the fall and now she's gingerly lying prone in the snow, she can feel the tension slowly start to seep between them as Gunner realizes it too.

She could go for his ankle. Or his knee. She doubt's that he's had time to test that baby out yet, so his aim on the first shot will probably be off. It's just a question of how off.

Just as Inga's wondering if she's going to be shot point blank in the face or if she'll be able to attempt a roll first, the barrel of the gun leisurely moves out of her line of glaring. Gunner's hand takes its place.

“You mean you don’t want to get all cold and wet? I’m shocked.”

Still, she takes it. She pulls herself up, grimacing through her new injuries and holding Gunner with a grip that's maybe just a touch too tight.

Not paranoid, just cautious.

Inga glances back at the imprints in the snow, suddenly realizing that the ground is very empty of her prey. That glare turns back to Gunner.

"You just had to let them get away."
