Now comes the mystery. ~ Henry Ward Beecher
She’d never given much thought to her hair, but in the one conversation where the topic came up, she almost gave an opinion. Almost, but not quite, she left with the last words of one Princess of Wales, “My God. What's happened?” In the truth of the matter, her hair reaches down to her lower back, due to the matter that her father has never forced her to cut it. Rowan, if you’d like to call her that, has an obsession with her hair. The brown—her long golden brown mess of a mane is loved by her due to the fact that it’s good for grabbing. Oh, that silly girl. Her hair is wavy in its length, with lightened spots from the District Four sun. Or, maybe it’s the lemon juice, no one knows, except me. I wonder why she’s so pale, if she says it’s the sun. Still, her roots are dark, and she’ll offer no explanation.
It is very beautiful over there. ~ Thomas Edison
Maybe Mr. Edison could be referring to Rowan’s eyebrows, but she wouldn’t think so. Her thin eyebrows only attract to her large forehead, her least favorite section of her body (but we’ll talk about that later on.) The eyebrows are the frame to her face, and it’s an ugly one at that, so she thinks. They match the roots of her hair, and she hasn’t found a way to stop the lemon juice (don’t shoot me.) from dripping into her eyes, and that’s not very flattering to her. She’d rather not have people look into her eyes, or her eyebrows, so you’ll often see her wearing sunglasses. But still, she’s so pale, I’m confused as to how she would have pale skin if she had a use for the sunglasses. Rowan once told a friend, "Thomas Edison's last words were 'It's very beautiful over there'. I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere, and I hope its beautiful.”, but she sure didn’t think of her eyebrows as that place.
Put out the light. ~ Theodore Roosevelt
The contrast between her eyes and her pale skin is impressive, the way the hints of gold catch the light, it’s beautiful. This is why if she could tolerate the blindness, she would, just so she wouldn’t be insecure over her eyebrows. She can’t, because this is Panem, and there are the Hunger Games. Who knows when you’ll have to shoot an elephant from this dist…? That’s John Sedgwick. Her eyes are large, and green, but kind of gold. She’s not into that poetic bullshit, so why even bother?
Is the mic still on?
Everyone has lips, and they come in all shapes and sizes. Rowan has large puffy lips, and to many, they’re her greatest feature. To her, they’re pretty great for smoking, but hell, if she’s going to die young at least she’ll die smart. Still, her lips are very thick and very wide. Her friend, Will Grayson, loves her lips more than her tits, but he’ll say her tits just to make her a little angry. Still, she’s just a girl, she has insecurities, and her lips aren’t one of them. She never has to wear much lipstick, due to the naturally pink shade to her lips, but she loves a good matte look, I like it too.
Why, yes, a bulletproof vest.
Onto her torso, not specifically her tits, pervert. Her stomach is naturally flat, she has a high metabolism, and she can easily burn off whatever she eats. This could be considered a disadvantage to the district citizens, however she can, even if she is from a career district, she can’t eat all that much. This could be a flaw for her, seeing as she only weighs 114 pounds, and she’s 5’4”. She’s a tad bit underweight (for a career district), that’s not exactly normal for a possible future career. Still, she has a couple dozen pounds on any tribute from twelve. She’s an attractive girl, still, like I said, nice tits.
That guy's got to stop… He'll see us.
I never lie; I told you we’d talk about her forehead. As stated before, it’s Rowan’s least favorite body part, and she’ll tell anyone who asks. A large forehead isn’t very flattering, unless you have bangs, and Rowan is not a bangs girl. She never will be, so don’t bring it up again. Bangs. Ha ha! What? She can’t do anything about it, she’s not here. Being as pale as to how you can’t tell a slice of bread from her forehead isn’t very good, so she’ll either have to tan or win the Hunger Games. She’d probably do the second; just to get the god damned hair line fixed. They can do that, right? Of course they can, they’re geniuses, and sadistic pedophiles. Yay for them!
Damn it! How will I ever get out of this labyrinth?
It’s time to talk about her personality, I suppose, so let’s kick it off with her favorite subject; books & quotes, specifically last words. Yes, she has an obsession with famous last words, because those are the only ones that count. Those are the words that mean something, to you and any witnesses. Why can’t you make them count? She collects tons of books, and she has them in her own personal library (titled her “Life’s Library.” Most of her books are unread, but she hopes that someday she will read them all, and add more to it.
I'm going away tonight….
Rowan is flirty, friendly, and mysterious. With her vast knowledge of quotes, she’ll often use them in casual conversation. She’s very outgoing and loves to make a new friend, that’s part of the fun of growing up. She’ll treat any single person as a friend, it doesn’t matter how long ago she’s met them, unless they’ve done her wrong in the past. Still, she isn’t the type of girl to rat anyone out if she sees wrong done, unless it’s at her expense. She loves to flirt, like most teenage girls, but, she has a boyfriend who knows nothing about it. Hey, that’s not cheating, right? I didn’t think so. She never reveals much about herself to anyone, not even many friends; her life is private and should be kept that way.
I'm the problem.
Rowan is the kind of girl to stand up for her beliefs. Women’s rights are very important to her, and she believes it’s important to not objectify women. She’ll often tell male friends when she believes they are being rude to females. Her beliefs are important to her, and if you piss her off, you’re going to know about it. That’s how she was raised, and that’s how she’ll life. But, one thing you probably wouldn’t notice or even know about her is the side of her who loathes herself for something that can never change.
Do you hear the rain? Do you hear the rain?
She loves to live in the moment, and lives every day as if it will be her last. It very well could be, couldn’t it? Why not enjoy it while she can? She loves to prank people, and she’s very good at it. Everyone should be good at something; she’s just good at several things. She loves to read, she’s smart, and she’s good at having fun. What’s not to love about that? She’s very spontaneous, and does on pure impulse, and it gets her into trouble often. How couldn’t it? That’s a very dangerous trait for a teenager to have, and could leave to death. Maybe that’s why she lives for today.
This is it... this really is it.
Rowan’s mother and father met twenty-five years ago as twenty-somethings meeting at the ship docks in District Four together. Drew Duncan, a fisherman, was stepping off a ship after a day of work when he noticed Lyra Collins, a shopkeeper meeting her brother. Lyra was a beautiful girl with Blonde hair, blue eyes, and a curvy figure, a former career in training. Of course, Lyra never went into the Hunger Games, but she was pressured by her parents. Drew was a fisherman because it gave him the money to sustain a comfortable lifestyle, accompanied by the money coming from his mother. Drew’s mother was a baker, one of the nicest in the district, and always had enough to spare for her only child.
When Drew saw Lyra, he fell in love quickly; she was a gorgeous girl, and she was funny. By two months of dating, Drew and Lyra decided that it was a good idea to get married, and have a family someday. They got married, and with their money together, they could afford a nice sized house in the District, where eventually they could raise a family. They both wanted a large family, but you can’t always get what you want, can you?
After eight or so years of trying for a child, it finally happened. Lyra was pregnant, and months later she had a baby girl named Rowan. Rowan was a wanted child, because years of trying and failing had gotten to the couple, so she came home to two loving parents. Lyra had always wanted a large family, but she was content with one daughter, and for the next eight years they were happy.
Eight years, just eight short years, Rowan knew her mother. Rowan fell in love with what she knew about the planet she lived on, and wanted to know more, so she began to read. One day, Lyra brought Rowan a copy of an autobiography of Caesar Flickerman, and Rowan began to read it. It was full of fashion, death, and drama. But, her own life was unraveling as she read. Rowan heard her mother fall to the ground in the living room, and as she stepped into the room, Lyra began to convulse. Rowan panicked, and had no idea what to do, so she did nothing. She just sat there and held her mother’s hand as she died of an aneurysm. Drew came home an hour later, and found her there. He blamed Rowan for the death, and made it a point to ignore her for the coming weeks. She needed her father, so she attempted to apologize, but it wasn’t enough.
He never forgave her, because he never forgave himself, he should and could have been there. Not her daughter. Her daughter was the only one who knew her mother’s last words, but never shared them, and it became her obsession to find any famous last words.
As she grew up, Rowan began to bottle up her feelings; she didn’t understand why people should get the chance to know who she was. She ruined everything; she could have saved her mother. She wanted to save her, but she couldn’t. She made friends, but no one knew who she was, and they never would. Rowan is a mystery, and a mystery is only good until it’s solved. Put the pieces together.
Codeword: Odair
Other: Wow, I did it, I finally made another character. I can’t wait to start. I worked incredibly hard on this, and it took me hours to complete.
