Evan stepped away, fuming with anger and began to twirl his whip around at deadly speeds. It flies near my face more than once and I jump backwards, startled by his sudden change in moods. I watch him fight invisible people for a while, taking out his anger on the ground. It hurts me to think that someone so young and small can contain so much anger. This is the kind of thing the Capitol has done to us. Ruined our innocence, and warped our minds so their hardly human anymore. Disgusted, I turn my back from the rock violence and tighten my grip on my mace.
It's hard, getting used to a new weapon. I drop the mace several times, and once it even flies out of my hand, landing on the dirt twelve feet away. My frustration grows as I work, especially when my stab wound slows me down. But as the day passes, the sun working it's way across the sky, I get better. I can twirl the mace through my fingers with quick speeds to switch hands, and my swings come down gracefully and with more force. I can also throw the mace pretty well, and the spikes allow it to embed itself into the ground or a tree....or someones chest? My head asks and I nod to myself, if that's what it takes to see Nick again then yes.
"So, what's your family like?" I say turning to Evan, and sitting down. I am near exhausted. It's early evening, the sun is shooting rays of orange, pink and red into the sky. It would be beautiful if it didn't remind me of the blood flowing from Azulon's wounds or the colour of Evan's ravished hands, or the flash of Karl's hair as he lunged at me.
"I didn't really pay attention to your interview, I was so nervous." I say, smiling through the ocean of madness ebbing at my mind.
