"It's not your fault about your parents Dominic... You never asked to be this way, and there's nothing you can do to change the way you were born."
"No, no.... you don't understand.... no, no, no...."
Dominic shook his head as he rocked back and forth, muttering inaudible phrases. She was right, however: he hadn't asked for the voice to be in his head, nor had he wanted to be so easily driven insane. And yet, here he was, lying in the midst of all these strangers, tears streaking down his face.
Get over it, you bitch.
A sudden flare of anger swelled up from within the boy. His hands balled into fists and he drove them forcefully into the ground, raising his bloodshot gaze to where Themba, Ayane, and Jana were. He didn't quite know who exactly they were talking about -- but he knew it was Ayane's mother -- and he heard just enough to know that she had died in the Games.
"At least she died in a dignified way, most likely..."
Dominic grumbled to no one in particular, shifting backwards slightly.
"But you know who didn't die in a dignified way? My father. You know why? Because I killed him."
It hadn't taken much for him to spill that certain secret, seeing as he was already furious by a reason known only to him. He felt no sympathy towards Themba or Ayane; and though he knew what it felt like to lose someone you love dearly, his heart was as icy as it had been when he had performed the murder.
"Suck it up."
Dominic growled in a guttural tone, eyes narrowed onto the father. The tears had dried up in his eyes, and all that was left was a demented glow.
"She's dead. There's nothing you can do to get her back unless you kill yourself. Just suck it up. You're not the only one who's lost someone close to them."
Dominic's voice had risen to a harsh hiss. The way Themba had closed his eyes and latched onto Ayane looked pitiful -- ridiculous even.
But didn't you do the same thing?
"That's not the same thing. I was the murderer, not the witness. And it was a corpse, not a little girl."
Dominic's stare hallowed out as he answered the invisible voice, though as soon as he finished his statement he returned his heartless gaze back onto the father.
((Oh my, mood swings. Dx I swear, he'll be broken back down into tears probably by my next post. x3 ))
