He knew that what she said suppressed a bit of anger. He could tell by the way she said it that she suspected something. Maybe he had made a face during his flash back or something like that. She would probably think it was about her scar. But it wasn't about that at all it was about me, he thought. Could he talk about this now, or was it too early for him? After all to him this was still a very tender topic.
He knew he would have to tell her sometime. Did it have to be right now in this beautiful spot. Why could it not be somewhere else somewhere like... He had a thought. He knew a spot where he could see the place where the ship sank. It was still a beautiful spot, but to him all that was there was mourning and rage. If she would go there with him then he could tell her about it. Maybe that would help him put the past behind him.
How could he tell her to leave here? It was perfect here and she obviously wanted to be here. Maybe he could make up a good enough lie to get her to come with me. That thought only lasted a second before he was sure he couldn't. He was a terrible lyre. All you had to do was look him in the eyes and if he was lying he would giggle. Not laugh but giggle like a little girl.
He decided he would have to tell her the truth. He knew he couldn't lie to her and there was no excuse he could make to want to take her there. All he could do was tell the truth. After all, honesty is the best policy." There's something I have to tell you," He said," But I can't tell you here. I have to take you to where it happened. Will you come with me?" He stood up and extended his hand toward Hattie hoping she would take it and allow him to lead her there.
