"Stay still please."
I did as I was told and felt Razor's hand slipping my boot onto my foot. My mind wandered to a story that my eldest sister would tell us younger siblings to get us to sleep.
A poor girl, with the help of a Fairy Godmother, goes to the King's ball at the palace. She gets to dance with the Prince, and they fall in love but the enchantment only lasts until midnight. The girl rushes out of the palace but in her haste she leaves a single shoe behind. A glass slipper. The Prince went around the Kingdom, fitting the shoe on every girl until he meet the right one and it fit perfectly. They got married and lived happily ever after.
It made me wonder if Razor knew that story too or if it was just an old District Nine tale.
"Just so you know, I am smiling."
I just had to grin at him, when did that pompous boy from District Two become so sweet?
"I'm not going to abandon you. Not until I have to.
A smile was stuck on my face and when I felt Razor's arms around me, I didn't protest. Two cannons ripped through the air and I didn't even flinch, they seemed to be a common occurrence today. Placing my head against Razor's chest, I felt his fingers run through my hair.
Hell yeah, I'm intriguing.
"Looks like I'll be reading you a long list of names tonight."
I couldn't decide if that was a good thing for a bad thing. With more dead there are less tributes to fight and I'm that much closer to the Victor crown, but that also means that it could come down to Razor and myself for the final two. Then what would we do?
It is too early in the Games for such questions, I might die tomorrow after all but then again Razor might too. I returned the favor and wrapped my arms around Razor in an attempt to make this single moment last forever because I knew at some point the clock would strike midnight and my fairy tale would come crashing down.
