~Too young for this~[Hayley]

Thalia regretted yelling the moment the words had left her mouth, but it felt good to let it out. Finally, what she had just done sank in. The Peacekeepers would come, and demand what had happened, and would most likely think that Hayley had tried to hurt her. As much as she disliked the girl, she definitely did not want her to get into trouble for nothing.

She cringed slightly as the words 'annoying brat' came out of Hayley's rude mouth. Thalia actually knew she could be annoying, but had never heard it worded before. It actually stung coming from another person, she preferred them to keep it to themselves. And a brat? She may be annoying and obnoxious, but she wasn't a brat.

Thalia opened her mouth to say something, stopping when she felt the grip around her shirt leave. She fell down, hitting the ground before she even had time to react. A low 'oof' came from her as she landed on the cold concrete, blocking out the words that flowed in a stream from Hayley's mouth.

Frankly, she didn't really care what she had to say anymore. It was probably just another thing about how stupid she was and how annoying she acted. Blah, blah, blah. "You're the one yelling now! You're not helping anyone, including yourself, by making more noise" she spat back at her, growing tired of Hayley's rude vocabulary.

Opening her mouth to say more, she was once again cut off. The sounds of boots were echoing off the stone walls. She quickly got up off of the ground, backing up into her bunk bed and sitting down on it. Peacekeepers, something she was extremely afraid of. Hopefully, they were just going to pass by, but she doubted it.

For once, Thalia listened to what Hayley told her. She knew nothing good would come from yelling or arguing with her. She took a long, deep breath, holding it in as the peacekeeper appeared before the cell. He was a large man, probably around the same size as the peacekeepers back in Eleven who had killed her mother.

She gribbed the side of the bunk as Hayley opened her mouth to say something, praying that it wouldn't be to cuss the man out. Her eyes widened as he grabbed her hair, slamming her head into the cell bars. Thalia stood up from where she sat, forgetting about what Hayley had said as she began to panic.

Thalia watched helplessly as the Peacekeeper kicked her in the back hardly, and walked away without one glimpse of sympathy or regret. In her eyes, they were heartless people, and enjoyed hurting them. Hayley began to pull herself up, causing Thalia to shift her feet nervously.

Her gaze followed Hayley across the room as she slumped down next to her. "You're Welcome" she said, her voice sounding out of breath. Thalia sat down on the bunk, gazing at Hayley with wide eyes. "I-I'm sorry, I wouldn't of yelled if I had known they would do that." she said quickly.

Her helping skills began to kick in, causing her to squirm in her seat as she fought the urge to ask if she needed help. There was nothing she could do anyways in this cell, but she still worried if Hayley was badly hurt. "Are you okay?" she asked slowly, her voice filled with nervousness.

Thalia looked at Hayley carefully, her hands clasped tightly together. She could hear her breathing, slightly louder than normal. Guilt spread through her like a wildfire, like it always did when someone got hurt on her behalf. Yeah, maybe Hayley was yelling a bit too, but she had yelled first, and been irritating as usual.

The next words came as a surprise to her small ears. Did she just take some of the blame? Thalia barely knew the girl, and had already known enough about her to know that she wasn't the type to apologize that easily. She thought it over for a while, choosing to just not acknowledge it.

"I won't yell, I promise" she said, her voice full of determination, though it quievered slightly. She didn't really believe that Hayley was just peachy, but knew better than to push the subject. She could easily see the pain in someone who was hurt, from years of living in District Eleven. It was rare to not see someone hurting in such a poor and run-down district.

Thalia was just about to let the whole subject drop, but let that thought slide the moment she saw blood on Hayley's head. "You're not fine stupid" she said, not meaning it in a rude way like earlier. She stood up, letting Hayley have the bottom bunk.

Thoughts and ideas began rughing through her head, immediatly bringing up different herbs. Obviously, herbs wouldn't help in a cell, so she would have to use something else. A sigh escaped from her "I think you need to lay down, but don't fall asleep because you might have a consussion. It could just be a deep cut, which would require stitches... but we don't have those. Dang it" she said quickly, her rambling coming back once again but in a quieter tone.

Thalia motioned for Hayley to get on the bottom bunk, scratching her head as she thought over what to do. She could almsot hear her mother's voice in her head, trying to soothe her nerves and tell her to calm down. The words actually did begin to make her relax, though they didn't take away the immense confusion rushing through her.

Thalia watched as Hayley finally made her way to sit on the bunk. Surprisingly, the girl hadn't complained or snapped back at her. Maybe Hayley was nice, and it had just taken a while for them to warm up to each other.

For the first time in a while, Thalia had sought a friend in someone and found it. Well maybe not the best friendship, maybe not even a frienship at all, but it was close. The last friend she had made found almost died in the forrest, and she still considered it her fault, for she could've stopped her from eating the berries.

Thalia looked up when Hayley spoke, smirking at the comment. She obvisouly wouldn't allow Hayley to go to sleep, though the thought that she had a concussion was less likely now that Thalia wasn't filled with anxiety and fright.

"I'll keep a close watch..so you don't go to sleep" she murmered, her voice beginning to sound groggy from exhaustion. Thalia slumped down, her back resting against the bottom bunk as she rested her head back on the edge. 'Don't go to sleep Thalia... don't go..don't' she thought, soon her thoughts not even making sense in her exhausted mind.

Thalia could make out Hayley's small words of thanks. Maybe they were simple and plain, but they meant much to the small girl. She didn't know why, but she always loved to hear a thanks from someone, even if she didn't deserve it. "You're welcome Hayley" she said, her voice a small whisper as her eyelids began to droop. "Hayley.. don't fall as-" her words were cut off as her head fell into a hanging position. Finally, she had fallen asleep.
