As she talks I fall into a sort of lull, not wanting to absorb her words. Her comment about the Hunger Games sends a chill up my spine despite the warm water. Instead of hearing her words I watch her move, the swish of her hair as she gets out of the water, the arc of her spine when she leans down to get the towel. The loving smile set on her lips. I walk easily into her arms, feeling her warm against me. It's only until after she finishes talking that I realize what she just told me. I grab her wrists and kiss her deeply.
"I'm all for that as long as you never mention what you would do without me again." My voice takes on an edge that scares myself as I talk, and I try to take steadying breaths. I'm not so naive as to think that I wouldn't do the exact same thing in that situation, but knowing Patrina has already planned it makes my heart throb. We walk quietly back to our room and I shut the door. I press her gently up against the door kissing her slowly. I feel a light pressure on my chest as we walk back towards the bed and fall on it, still locked together. I break Patrina's fall with my body and chuckle as the air in my lungs rushes out heavily. I knot my fingers into her hair and pull her tighter to my chest, enjoying the weight of her body.
Without warning the door slams open and I sit up abruptly, pushing Patrina off me as quickly but gently as I can. Jolia comes storming in the room, screaming with laughter.
"Daannneeeee!!!!!" She squeals launching herself onto the bed and nestling herself down between Pat and I. "Can you weed me a stowy pweeese?" she says directing her huge eyes at me. I sigh and give in, spinning a tale of animals who can talk and a small girl just like Jolia who can fly all around the world with her bird friends. Jolia nods off before the story is done, gently sucking on her thumb. I chuckle and tug the blankets up to cover her small body.
'Not quite what you had in mind?" I whisper to Pat, trying to remain serious.
