(I'll use her colors now...)
She tapped her foot to a strange rhythm, one without a beat. They were light noises, her sneakers hitting the ground softly. Though barely, Serena's feet touched the ground, which she was thankful for. I mean, imagine if they hadn't? Then she would be sitting there, on the chair with her feet dangling above his, and she'd probably start swinging them. And then kick Gabriel. Hopefully, Serena wouldn't have actually hurt him, but you never could tell with those kind of things. She was stronger than she looked, and accidentally proved it every day. Blushing from the thought of the awkward silence, after his (Assumed) Yelp of pain, she didn't notice the waiter bring them their drinks.[/size][/blockquote]
Blinking, she turned towards the server, and handed him the payment for the refreshments. She could afford it, couldn't she? What, with where she came from. Besides, Serena had just gotten a great deal on an exquisite fish she had bred. It had had dark gray flecks on it's tail, and an almost white streak near it's head. Luckily, it was male, and had plenty of offspring before she had sold it. The baby fish hadn't hatched yet, but at least one of them would, hopefully, look like their father. She realized that her thoughts were getting off topic, and that her friend was looking at her patiently, patronizingly, waiting for her to start her drink.
Right. Leaning forwards for a delicate sip, the teenager brought the frosted glass to her lips. She relished the feel of the ice-cold cup coming in contact with her mouth, as well as the purifying feeling she got from letting the soda run down her throat. She'd been at the beach, it'd been hot, and the liquid washed away the dust in her neck. Absolutely perfect. She set the container back down again, and it left a wet mark on the table. A little ring of sparkling liquid encircled the cup, glimmering in the far-too-warm sunlight. At this rate, she'd get a sunburn. Serena hoped they could go inside soon, to avoid the stiff pain that followed too much time in the open.
After what seems like an eternity, the girl stood and pushed in her chair. The white wood was smooth against her touch, and slid noisily back to the table. Taking a moment, she had to suppress another giggle; if she did that in her house...Skid marks. Everywhere. Punishment. Nothing she really wanted to get into on such a fine day. Gabriel muttered something about showing her, though just as Serena was about to ask what he had said, he grabbed her wrist, AGAIN, and lead her off into the crowd. Another teenage girl bumped into her, and started swearing obscenely. Yup- this was the city.
As they walked, it became clear that the pair of kids were making their way out of the city, into the outskirts. She wondered what a guy like Gabriel was doing in a place like that, the rough, tough neighborhoods where gangs hung out. He released her, which was a huge relief, and started sprinting towards a giant wall, that stood at least six feet high. So maybe it wasn't so giant; it was still big. With a fancy bit of gymnastics, he clambered up to a a roof, and laid back on it. Serena knew she couldn't do that, but there was always another way up. Scanning the large brick wall in front of her, she sprung to the nearest handhold, and reached forwards. If she could just...Yes! Before she knew it, the girl was raising one hand over the other, scaling the sheer wall. Next, she just jumped to the roof, pulling herself up in the same manor as the one before her had.
"Nice place- huh?"
